John Rambo vs the T-800 model 101 Terminator

Set in around 1982, in a rural town similar to the one in "first blood", would Rambo have been able to handle the terminator without a heads up on what it actually was or could do?
Just having a conversation with some friends, I think if Rambo survived the initial attack he would figure out a way to destroy it. Wondering what the MB's opinions on it would be.

If John Rambo is the target of the Terminator, I suspect he will do just fine seeing as how, despite their namesake, the Terminator's rarely ever terminate anything other than people they are not programmed to kill.
But seriously though, Rambo wouldn't stand a chance.

If Linda Hamilton can kill one, the "Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines willing to go knee-deep in blood and guts who is an expert in guerrilla warfare, who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands, who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke, whose job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition....the best" would be able to smoke the T-800

Here lies John Rambo, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater USA.

Yeah but she was only able to deal with it and take it down because she had a lot of help from a person who had a lot of experience with them.
If she was solo she'd have been gone at that nightclub.

Meh. Reese was trained by John Connor, who we later learned was a poser and a tool.
So if a woman given a quick crash course in combat by a protege of a toolish poser can beat the T-800, Johnny's taking home the gold.

This just piques my interest again on what a Stallone/Schwarzenegger movie back then could've been. It's cool now for nostalgia, but in there prime it could've been something memorable

Holy crap this made my sides hurt.
I was thinking just this though. Reese knows about them but he isn't a stone cold mo fo like Johnny Rambo. I say if Reese and Sarah Connor can take one down over the course of a 2 hour movie then just give Rambo a 30 minute episode, game over for the terminator.

They seem to kill everything in their path.
In T2 it was only after John told him to, that the Terminator started maiming people instead.

The guy could eat stuff that could make a billy goat puke. Rambo by a mile.

only after acquiring grenades and happening to crash into a place that had molten metal.

Nope. Rambo preferred to get up close and personal with the knife which would have played right into the Terminator's strengths.
Rambo would have needed to know going in that he was up against a huge robo, um, "cybernetic organism" so he could have planned his attack accordingly.

If Major Dutch Schaefer can take down the Predator, then Rambo would no problem vs a T-800

Unless he has an industrial machine press or a foundry and some liquid nitrogen in the handle of that knife,
