I've got no real opinion on your original question, but I'll warn you -- 1 pound difference is more annoying than you might expect, if you're hauling it around all day, or trying to hold it in one hand while you use it. A lot more annoying. If you do go heavier, make sure the features are really going to be worth it for your workflow.

Just back from Best Buy. You are right; the one pound difference is too much. They didn't have one in store, but Sony Vaio makes an 11" screen. ~1.8lbs I think. That might be a good option as well.

If that's the case and your work is paying for it, you probably should get the Surface Pro 2. I haven't used it, but pretty much the only negative you ever see about it is that it's not cheap.

I have been looking at the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 (256GB).

Weigh it against the Dell Venue Pro 10. Or DVP 7 if you want something a little lighter.

X230 from Lenovo. I've used a X220 for a while and this should fit your needs and then some.

The new iMacs are really nice... but they're way overpriced.

I'm planning on getting a nice desktop and tablet... desktop for gaming, work, entertainment etc, and the tablet for browsing the Web while I'm on the couch
