how much fish should I get. it will be cat fish being that my source of trout i usually get didnt come through for me this year. TIA

I'm cooking for 200 people Saturday. Fried fish and shrimp fettuccini. I always figure a pound of fish feeds 3 people. I'm going with 1 pound per 4 this weekend because we are also serving the fettuccini.

Some good info above. For adults, mixed company, I'd count of 1/2 lb per head.

A 15 lb box of 3/5 Basa will be plenty.

We used to have a big fish fry on Good Friday for years. I hired a seafood joint to do the frying. We also had boiled crawfish and some other foods with it. I always ordered 1/2 pound of fish per person. We had a mix of adults and kids. Always seemed to work out. On occasion, we'd run out and, on occasion, we'd have a little left over, but not much. We also had a truck that served some fair foods like hot dogs (for the non Catholics), funnel cakes, lemonade and sno balls as well.

I've decided people can eat more fried fish by weight than some other things. I know I can, but I bypass the fries and sides most of the time.
