Bundy has been free loading on federal land since 1995. Owes the federal govt(taxpayers) over 1 million dollars in unpaid grazing fees.
Who is this Federal fella, and how did he come upon owning the land that the tax payer Bundy has been grazing on?

His cows run around on other people's property, out on roads, he racks up fines that he ignores, they run around loose in Lake Mead national park which is undoubtedly federal land, so they finally started rounding up his loose cattle.
He says he owes the state of Nevada not the federal govt, but he hasn't paid the state or Clark County a dime either. And his son's inbred.

Here's the rundown (aka both sides have the stupid):
Bundy's family grazes cattle on public land (upwards of 90% of Nevada's land is publicly owned).
BLM is formed and starts charging grazing fees to ranchers on public land and in exchange maintains that land.
Bundy's family pays the grazing fees and the BLM maintain the land.
BLM changes their policy without the ranchers' consent. The continue collecting fees but cease to maintaining the land for cattle and instead focus on preserving native wildlife.
Bundy stops paying the percentage of his fees that would go to the BLM due to them not holding up their end of the bargain.
14 years later, the BLM seizes some of Bundy's cattle as restitution for his $1,000,000+ in owed grazing fees.
Bundy arms himself and tells the BLM there will be blood if they try to take the rest of the cattle.
BLM brings a small army of armed police and armed paramilitary personell.
Bundy assembles hundreds of "militia" to defend his cattle against the BLM.
Journalists expose that the land Bundy has been grazing his cattle on is being sold by the BLM to a Chinese energy company to develop a multi-billion dollar solar plant. Both Senator Harry Reid and his son are heavily involved in the project.
Fearing media backlash, the BLM backs off in order to avoid bloodshed (they didn't want another Waco on their hands).
Decide for yourselves who's right. I think everyone's wrong and I'm just glad no one died because of it.
Think I'm siding with Bundy.
Feds renege on their end of the deal, and then the Feds are selling it to the Chinese?
Yeah, frick the Feds. Bundy is DEAD ON.

You're unaware of the Open Range laws out in the American West. It's entirely different out there.
Basically, if you don't want cows on your property, you better build a fence to keep them out. At least that's been the spirit of the laws for 100+ years.

Im fairly sure the story i heard on Fox, the son said that when his father bought the grazing right he knew the feds could renege at anytime. He decided to do it anyway because he had a positive experience in CA with the gov.

you can't just decide to not pay just because they reneged. fight them in court, not with guns.

Who's court?
Posted on 4/14/14 at 11:23 pm to hawgfaninc
Bundy told Shawn Hannity that he doesn't believe that the Fed Gov has the right to own property outside of the 10 square miles that encompasses Washington DC., and that is the reasoning behind not paying the grazing fees.

if that's your argument, go buy an island and start your own country. then it can be your court.

Talk to the government. They love pointing gun at people. These situations would never escalate if someone in DC would use a little common sense.

I'm unaware of the open range laws where I live? Your cows can't run around on the highway and they can't openly graze in national parks.

Well then they'd be exposed for the little jackboots they are. Citizens aren't as worthy as the lordlings in congress.

so who owns the military bases?
The post offices?
I get wanting small government, but people who want no federal government are a bit loony.

I simply asked who's court he would address?
Reneging on promises to people seems to be a reoccurring theme with the federal government out west when they find a bigger better deal, in this case being the Chinese.
How about the taxpayers now?

Yeah, there's a good reason for the anti government backlash. Common sense doesn't exist anymore, problem are solved by beating people into submission. We're tired of it.
It used to be cool to question authority. Now those people have become the authority, and it's no longer cool.
