Blues fest was great, but the blues scene has been BADLY neglected in the last couple of decades. Hopefully the success of Blues fest can lead towards a revival of it.

Author grew up in Opelousas, for what it's worth.

Decent article. Blues Fest was fun. Really enjoyed Naomi Shelton, and it was cool to be able to see Dr. John for free and stand in the second row. Tried to see him a bunch before, but it's always like $35+ and I'm not an ultra mega fan.

I have never lived in BR but the Garden District seemed like a really nice place to live driving through. Downtown on a Saturday was about what I'd expect of a city that size (I'm from one). I drank a $3 bloody mary, which is cheaper than I've ever seen in NOLA.
