listen idiots, if you have a dog, you have chosen to be responsible for that dog. You are that dogs daddy. The dog cannot make choices for itself. You choose to put the dog in harms way if you choose to put it in the truck bed.
and I really laugh at the dumbass who rejects the only guy bringing sources and numbers to the argument. You asked for it, he brought it and then you reject. Get. the. frick. out of here with that weak minded bs.
again, the dog is your responsibility. don't like it? don't have the dog. don't want to take care of it in a grown up way? don't have it and stick to ant farms. this isn't the govt telling you how to live your live. It's society telling you how to act like an adult instead of the child you want to be.
and what's humorous about this is that many advocating the I'll Treat My Dog How I Want are the same ones that advocate for other humans needing to grow up and fend for themselves and stop living off the gubmint.
Hypocrites.

Whew...
Here we go...
I am that dog's owner. Big difference
It's my dog and that's my choice. Hog dogs get "put in harm's way" every day they go to work. So do TONS of other hunting dogs. Should we ban them as well? I bet more dogs die from hog tusks than catapulting out the bed of trucks.
He brought numbers from the humane society to support his argument that bad things happen to dogs in the back of trucks. I think that's a little biased. If I post numbers from bantoiletpaper.com supporting my argument that toilet paper is bad, I think I'll largely get rejected.
It sure does look like it is
Hell of a reach there
I'm not sure what this means.
ETA: And don't call people idiots without proofreading your post.

This. My dog loves to ride in the bed of my truck but I always have her in with a short leash and the brace that goes around her chest. However that is just when we are going somewheres quick, if we're on the interstate- she's in a crate.

I know of one case where a friend had a dog that stayed in the back of his truck a lot and became very territorial.
Had to be careful walking by, she would bite if you were too close.
Hardly an epidemic that would warrant a law though.

If you look at the issue from a more simple point of view consider the dog a "load".
"The load on any vehicle shall be securely fastened so as to prevent the covering or load from becoming loose, detached, or in any manner a hazard to other users of the highway."
It's illegal to leave a washer unsecured in the back of your vehicle. Why should a dog be any different?
This legislation is hardly a government intrusion. Government intrusion would be if they wanted to ticket you for leaving the dog loose in the bed of your truck while driving on your own property. Government intrusion is raiding a guy's house because he bought fertilizer and had a high electric bill. Asking a person to secure the dog in the bed of a truck is no where near government intrusion.

If that's the case, why do we need another law? My point is that we have enough goddam laws, not enough people with common sense, and an overabundance of idiots. Our representatives need to concentrate on solving real problems. If someone wants to dress a dog up in sweaters for pictures let him do it. If the same man wants to shoot that dog for tearing up his new pair of boots he should be able to do that also.

Like others have said, these idiots have much more important stuff to worry about.
That is what I see as the real problem. These bleeding hearts are willing to let the govt tell them how they have to live and it won't stop with this. People are really clueless about what they are doing. I would rather a few dogs die from jumping out of a truck than have more laws telling me how to handle my dog but that's just me.

Well it looks like we already have a law

So you're for an amendment just not a new law. Glad that's finally cleared up.

I believe he's saying if your point is valid that it is the same thing, than the law would need nothing. Otherwise the point isn't valid.

Nope. Dogs are property just like washing machines.
And the word "Secured" could be debated

Yea it doesn't really bother me. Kinda like a seatbelt law.
