How can I learn to drive stick today?

Yes, my father failed me and never taught me to drive stick as a child. It's a skill I'd like to learn, preferably today or tomorrow. My first thought was a rental, but apparently the agencies are wise to this and no one here rents manuals. Second thought is to use this as an excuse to buy a CJ-5...
Any other ideas?

Well obviously, you'll need to drive one today.
If you've never driven anything with a clutch, be ready to be angry.

find a friend with a manual that will let you drive it is your best bet

Get a friend with a standard to teach you
I taught several friends in my first car

I had two teammates in lacrosse with shitty old manual cars. I learned by stealing their cars and drifting through the gravel parking lot after practice

You could go to a dealership and see if they'll let you test driving something with a stick.
I suggest a dodge diesel truck. Sounds dumb, but a diesel is by far the easiest thing to learn on. They're very hard to stall out.

I can't think of one friend in town with a stick. I've driven one once and was semi-successful (made it home but stalled twice), so I get how it works but need to practice.
I was invited to drive a relative's new Porsche and am too embarrassed to say I don't know how. I've been a car-guy since birth but I'm a big fat phony.

That seems like a solid plan. I've got a friend at the dodge dealership. Hopefully this day doesn't end with me buying a Fiat 500 Abarth.

Grow a penis. It'll come naturally after that.

I would find a motorcycle and start from there. You need to learn the concept of how to shift gears and work a clutch before getting behind the wheel or I see epic fail in your future.

Really ground breaking advice here...I bet he never thought of that.

Perfect. Call and see if they have any diesel stick shifts, and if not see if they have any badass challengers with a stick. More power makes learning easier.

Rent a dirt bike for one day to learn the whole clutch thing. That way when you get a friend to teach you in their car you won't maul their clutch too badly.

Ride bitch with a gay guy. He'll have you driving stick in no time

Waste of time. You won't even have to know how to drive when the google car hits the market.

Learning the clutch and how to drive with 2 feet takes a minute.
My Dad never taught me directly. One of his Service Men put me behind the wheel working during the Summer.I was 16.
A Porshe.Well obviously you've got to do this.
