Trading out of the first round

Anybody like that idea and if so what types moves can we make with it. Maybe get another early 2nd rounder from someone this yr (late 30s pick) and their first rounder in next years draft. Use it to get Van Noy and Landry, or Matthews first then Stanley Jean Baptiste. Theyre combos that wouldn't be bad. Idk you tell me it's not an absolutely terrible idea but I know what I'd rather.

If all the first round WRs are gone I wouldn't mind it especially if someone like Bridgwater falls.

I've been thinking it might be the best idea for some time now.
Outside of Mosely, there's not many in the first round (that would reasonably be in our neighborhood) that I really, really want.
Might be good to trade back if he's not there.

Great idea but you have to have a dancing partner to go to that dance. If one of the big 3 QBs fall to the 27th pick, there might be a possibility of this happening...not much of a possibility but still a possibility (this FO has shown the desire to move up on occasions but not down).

It will be my prediction/hope when we have that "official draft prediction thread" the week of if it ever gets here

Jeff Duncan hopes so. That way he can keep putting out lazy arse mock drafts that don't even address the Saints.

I was going to put a spin on this trading back.
With the new CBA, 1st rounders have a '5th year team option' on a player. Is it worth it to you guys to trade back into the top-mid 2nd round (where matthews is projected to go) and lose that 5th year option for a 3rd rounder (going based off of the draft value chart).
I have a hard time picking to be honest. A potential depth player and matthews for 4 years or matthews for 5 years.

I posted my scenario the other day and could see it happening. I kind of hope it does. We could grab a really good WR and the best C in the 2nd round. And likely we'd have another pick in the 4th to add more depth.

If we trade back...Imagine getting a combo of say Matthews/Robinson and Van Noy.

Would be great if we turned pick 27 into moncrief and attaochu fellow, plus our 2nd and 3rd round picks

That wouldn't b e bad either...It seems though every year someone falls though.

Im a Moncrief fan. Torched my school (yes that school) every time I watched him play. Cant help but respect him. 6'2 221 and runs damn near a 4.3, grown arse man status. We have no pass catchers on the team that make you jump up at the TV and say "lets f***in go man good catch!" Moncrief can be that haha.

it just depends on whos there. with this type of draft, id really like two 2nd rounders.

2nd and 3rd rounders equals 27 pick on value chart
Posted on 4/12/14 at 1:45 pm to Chad504boy
do GMs actually use that chart?
Posted on 4/12/14 at 1:46 pm to Chad504boy
Your using a different chart than me.
Posted on 4/12/14 at 1:47 pm to Chad504boy
would you rather have 8 picks this year
