The hardest thing about communicating the deadliness of the climate problem is that it isn’t killing anyone. And just between us, let’s be honest: the average member of the public is a bit (how can I put it politely?) of a moron. It’s all well and good for the science to tell us global warming is a bigger threat than Fascism was, but Joe Q. Flyover doesn’t understand science. He wants evidence.

Is this guy trolling? I can't imagine anyone who knows anything about the scientific method squalling about presenting "evidence." I think this guy is nuttier than an East Tennessee snake handler.

I would think these two are related. Is the author a 5 year old?

As always in these situations, put any other race besides "white" in the comment and ask yourself what the public response would be.

If you ever wonder why people are skeptical of climate change and global warming, you can just look at the number of people comparing it to the threat posed by Hitler, calling those who are skeptics "deniers" and evoking clear parallels to the Holocaust, and claiming things like the North Pole is now completely water.

The fact is that so much of the legitimate science gets lost in the din of people who know nothing at all about science panicking and misrepresenting things in an attempt to frighten people and gain greater power for themselves. It's not hard to figure out why people are skeptical when you have so much over-saturated hyperbole ruining the discussion.

Good Grief. Can’t we just get over the whole evidence thing? What does evidence have to do with science, anyway?

If the evidence conflicts with the narrative, the narrative must take precedence. Never let the facts interfere with a good story. If a lie is repeated often enough, it becomes the truth; a big lie will flourish, while a small lie withers due to lack of interest.

Thus spake Science in the service of political interests.
Nice response.

I'm a scientist. I have multiple science degrees from a highly regarded university (I know, lol aggys). I understand the science of climate change better than most (though obviously not as well as the experts in the field).

The climate, as a whole, is getting warmer. This is an observable, measurable fact. To say it isnt is just ignorance. That being said, it really isnt the issue and is a strawman used by proponents of man made global warming. The issue is whether or not we are the major cause, and this is a political issue predicated largely on falsified data and correlation = causation fallacies.
