I just feel like arresting her at this point would backfire. GOP would look like a-holes no matter what.
so we allow the IRS, DOJ, OSHA, EPA, and whoever else to target political groups the current administration doesn't agree with?
no, this MUST be dealt with, regardless of the consequences...not dealing with it would be far worse insuring it happens again in the future.
NO MATTER WHAT the republicans do, the media is going to bash them, so they just as soon do what is right

I wonder if Watergate would have happened today, how would this Congress respond?

We can only pray that if happens to see the hilarity that ensues.

I think you're jumping ahead here.

So both of the Dems who have given speeches thus far have said "She wants to testify, just give her immunity"
Posted on 4/10/14 at 8:35 am to Lsut81
I'd support giving her immunity if she gives names. I fully believe this goes all the way to the top.

I did agree with that, but someone made a good point... You give her immunity and she just falls on the sword for everyone else.

If she gets immunity she will give a few low level names and lie about how close to the top this goes

What's going on between the IRS and True the Vote? Sharyl Attkisson; May 29, 2013

But Engelbrecht's attorney, Cleta Mitchell, says it's not just the Democratic Party that went after the conservative causes, but also the federal government. Within months of the groups filing for tax-exempt status, Engelbrecht claims she started getting hit by an onslaught of harassment: six FBI domestic terrorism inquiries, an IRS visit, two IRS business audits, two IRS personal audits, and inspections of her equipment manufacturing company by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Texas environmental quality officials.
Taken alone, any of the visits and actions might seem perfectly reasonable. But Engelbrecht and her lawyer says it's the pattern and the timing of the attention paid to Engelbrecht's interests that led them to conclude something was amiss.
In a statement to CBS News, the FBI Houston Division said, "Pursuant to FBI policy, it would not be appropriate to comment on the nature of routine contacts made in the course of FBI business." ATF and OSHA said their inspections were also routine and had nothing to do with the IRS matter. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality told us that agency had received a complaint and "can state without reservation that we were not directed to investigate Engelbrecht Manufacturing by any federal agency or any other agency."

Do you really think the president is involved at the level of looking into legitimacy/tax exempt status of non profit groups? That seems like wishful thinking to me.

I don't think O was directly involved, but I do think people within his administration were...

At least one person, if not more in the inner circle of the president are involved to have this many departments coordinated...

I think the problem is the president set the tone for this. I don't think you'll find anything close coming directly to the president. The time line for when the president started criticizing these groups and when the IRS got involved isn't a coincidence.

No, but I could see it going to the staff level.

I think the President only cares about playing golf and hanging out with rappers - the celebrity aspects of being president.
I think Valerie Jarrett and others are the ones pulling the strings, and it wouldn't surprise me if Jarrett herself gave the order to target conservative groups.
I honestly don't think the President gives a damn. He's the puppet in all of this. I think he likes being President because of the celebrity, but he relies on a small circle of influencers to make important decisions.
