LSU trainer Jack Marucci told me they tested QB Zach Mettenberger's surgically reconstructed knee on Friday -- It's now at 97% strength. ...
best of luck today.

I had him at 96% so this is even better.

That is an oddly specific number.

Cool! Over and under of his 40 time?
6.5?

how does one track strength down to such a precise percentage?

maybe some PTs or Doc's can help us with this quandary.

I'm sure those who are doing the rehab are running tests to compare right after surgery to now. Sort of like a control vs what changed.

The question is...will he show up in full pads?
Posted on 4/9/14 at 9:26 am to JBeam
I haven't rehabbed a knee in over 20 yrs, but I do recall having the strength of one measured against the strength of the other (good vs bad) on a computerized machine. Base readings taken off of good knee and then increasing opposing pressure applied to the bad in order to find the percent difference.

In lieu of Drake, will Boosie make an appearance?

That's great news! If his knee is at 97% strength and he gives 110% effort, that's having 106.7% of a knee!

He's got all the tools. Stuff that you measure like speed and agility don't matter when you got tools!

They have a machine that tests each leg individually and compares the two against each other.
Source: I had to do that after I blew my knee out.

he gives 110% effort
True story, I once had a highly motivated LCDR for a boss, and one day he gathered up his three three Ensign protegees (I was one) and implored us to give our all. He then asked each of us individually if we were prepared to give 110% for the mission. I replied, "that's actually impossible, sir. Based upon my basic understanding of physics, my maximum output is 100%, which itself would probably exhaust me fairly quickly and may even lead to death."
He didn't crack a smile.

It's called isokinetic testing. And if that is accurate that is very impressive being only 3 months out from surgery.

KLSU,
No running or position drills for Mett. Only throwing events.
