The French have the most proven military in Europe now. Check out what they have been doing in Africa lately. Hell, they are the only Euro country to have a seaworthy carrier that can carry and deploy an air wing.
We should invade then

My buddy was on the Texas back in the eighties. Said he was up on the top observation deck in a storm like that in the southern ocean and the waves were so tall there were times he was looking up at them even from that height. Nobody was supposed to be outside but they were sneaking smokes or something and didn't figure anything could get them up there. After looking up at the peaks of waves from that height they got the hell back inside.

Shortly after this video was created they surrendered to Germany, you know just in case.

I bet the whole ship shudders every time the stern comes up out of the water.

No greenwater on bridge glass...not impressed.
Got some greenwater across bow at 2:07.
Then again, it's been a long time since I was 18. I may not handle it so well these days.

I spent 4 years and 2 months on an Aegis class cruiser. 2 6 month Med cruises, a short 2 month trip to the Baltic and countless days underway for work-ups or training.
I never had too many problems with the side to side, but the up-down side to side killed me. It was especially bad when the sonar dome got up because the ship would flutter back and forth on the way down.
The Atlantic in December, it pretty much sucks!

That's a cool video though.

Meh. Those smaller boats on Deadliest Catch go through worse than that.

quote:It just looks that way because the fishing boats are so small. The Bearing Sea doesn't get those massive troughs so widely spaced apart quite like the North Atlantic. I think the average depths of the Bearing Sean and North Atlantic are 5,000 ft and 15,000 ft respectively. I've sailed both of 'em.

Try being in Sonar 1 while this was going on...

Never had a day on water hours!
Worst I had to endure was a few days of powdered eggs and milk.
