I thought Cuba Gooding Jr. was pretty good in Radio.

He was great as Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies also.
Not bad in Open Range & Godfather either...he's one of my all time favorite actors!

Not the best really, but Joe Pesci in Goodfellas is friggin awesome. He was legitimately terrifying in that movie, and he's just a little, brillo-headed, pudgy dude.

Actual Mobsters love his performance if that tells you anything. He was talior made for that role and knocked it out of the fricking park. Goodfellas is a top 5 film and Pesci is a huge reason why.

A couple of my favorites are Ed Norton in American History X and Ian McShane in Deadwood.

Old school (it helps that these are all great movies.):
Gary Cooper - Sergeant York
William Powell in any of "The Thin Man" movies
William Powell in Bringing Up Father
Frederic March in The Best Years of Our Lives (Dana Andrews and Harold Russell were excellent in this as well - Russell won a special Oscar, in addition to the Supporting Actor and had not acted previously).
Bogey in Casablanca, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, African Queen and The Caine MutinyGable in It Happened One Night
Welles in Citizen Kane (remember, he wrote, directed, produced and starred)
Max Schell - Judgment at Nuremburg (see also, Spencer Tracy, Marelene Dietrich, Burt Lancaster, Richard Widmark, Montgomery Clift and Judy Garland in that same film - in fact, if you want to see a film that is loaded with great performances, big and small, from top shelf actors - that is the one to which I would point.)

people who don't agree, just can't grasp the significance of that question when he asks it. The raw emotion TH sends through without doing much of anything is amazing. I have seen FG 100's of times, and the room never fails to get quite dusty during that scene.

Actor: Not my favorite movie nor favorite actor, but Nicholson's performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was pretty outstanding.
Actress: Hard to argue with Streep in Sophie's Choice, but Hillary Swank in Boys Don't Cry was close.
