Frick man. WTF is wrong with these cops.

They are the police state, and are using anything they have to in order to justify their tactical assault shite they practice all the time, and which they wanted have an excuse to execute in real life scenarios, because they're violent fricks to begin with,

Oh, and it should be noted that this is Chicago... You know, the same arse hole socialist nazi bastards that want to strip their citizens of their arms so THEY can protect them.
You're getting a glimpse of your new world in the future, and we're all being conditioned to accept it, and we will.

NOT supporting the police response. We all know they screwed up. But you guys completely dilute your outrage when you exclude the fact the old guy had a knife.

It's absolutely shocking that a 95 year old man with a can and a shoe horn can scare someone so much that they feel the need to shoot him with a bean bag.[/

Forgot about the knife. Doesn't change my reaction. shite, give him the hammer of Thor, still don't have to shoot a 95 year old man.
ETA: They shot him not once, not twice, not three times, not four times, but FIVE TIMES with bean bags from a shotgun.
Great police work right there.

We get called to medical facilities all the time in situations like this and we usually tell them, this isn't a police issue and leave. I don't know how this can be justified.

No knife was found.

frick if he had a knife or not, aren't police supposed to find a nonviolent solution to problems?
Whats wrong with waiting outside his room and talking to him while he calms down?
You answer is because if they did that then the wish they were badass enough to be in combat cops, wouldn't get to use a riot shield, taser, or their sweet beanbag shooting shotgun.

If this doesn't scare the shite out of everyone as to what direction this country is heading in, don't know what will or does. Even if he had a knife what could he have done. He is 95 not 25. He would probably pass out after taking a couple of steps towards the cops anyway. What the hell is the point in all the DT training and lessons on how to disarm people in close combat you get from the academy. A swat with an asp would have been all it took. Pathetic.

Wait, if someone dies as a result of someone else committing a felony isn't it murder? At least according to every crime drama I've ever seen.
Most states, if not all, have a list of felonies that would constitute felony murder if the victim were to die while the felony was being committed. This is probably not one of the ones listed.

Not even that, how many times have you seen or heard of police waiting FOR HOURS while there was a "hostile" subject somewhere and they were trying to calm them down?
Hell LSP shut down the freaking interstate for what 6-8 hours because a guy on 310 had a gun and wanted to off himself. (thats not a knock on LSP, I actually think they handled the situation well)

Funny part is I specifically stated I wasn't defending the police here. Just making a point on the previous poster cutting that part of the facts out.
HERE IS A STATEMENT. You cop haters on the OT are every bit, if not worse than the pro-police guys.
I offer a clarification and, because none of the blind police supporters are present, you jump on me like a bunch of ravenous dogs on a soup bone. Well, you know what, kiss my arse.

Nah. Just sick of the hypocrisy on here with the daily Cops Suck threads. Hell, these guys gave PLENTY of legitimate evidence to pound them on what they did to the old guy. Why alter the evidence to make it worse? It wasn't needed.
Even if the knife turned out to be a shoe horn, original story and later differ, why totally exclude the mention of it? It's like testifying in a trial and saying "well I was lieing before but I am telling the truth now."

What about people who support good cops, but bash bad cops? Unlike those who defend every action.

Otherwise known as rational people?
I gots no issue with them.
IN FACT, here it is - the blind always pro or always anti police people on the OT are like, like...
THE TALIBAN!
Oh hell, now I dun gone and did it.

What most of the anti cop folks don't understand is that good cops hate bad cops. You can have a really good department that has mostly good officers and you never hear of bad incidents with them. Then you can have a crappy department that is always in the news.
Waveland Ms is a good example. One of the smallest departments in the state and they are constantly in the news for law suits. They tazed more people a couple of years ago than Gulfport and Biloxi combined.

Police responded with a Taser, a riot shield, a shotgun with beanbag rounds and one drawn handgun when they rushed him. An Illinois State Police inquiry of the case determined that Taylor fired the 12-gauge Mossberg police shotgun five times at Wrana.
Park Forest police used shotgun beanbag rounds from Combined Tactical Systems Inc. The rounds travel up to 190 mph, and manufacturer’s guidelines recommend that shooter be between 21 and 50 feet from the target. An independent pathologist who studied the original autopsy report said that it appeared Wrana had at least four impact wounds to his abdomen.
Sad. He is 96 years old. You don't need to beanbag the man.
