And don't forget too that I-10 will be six-laned all the way to Sorrento in the near future.
Made completely worthless the minute they linked Central to it via Oneal and stopped using the ramp light. Its amazing how bad that made I12. You went from zero traffic on I12WB to the exact same backup you had before construction literally overnight when they opened that. Although I guess if they didnt 6 lane I12 already traffic would be backed up to Livingston when they opened it.

Isn't the state 6 lane-ing I-12 past walker too?
Yep, just got started on the walker - livingston/frost part a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure on I-12 past Walker, let me do a little research.
@Croacka, you're right that part of Airline is the worst. Frontage roads would be great there. Rush hour commuters in Prairieville would appreciate upgrading Airline to 6 lanes with frontage roads.

None of the articles I could find elaborated on the toll.. It will now cost money to go down Airline?

so its more like a bypass than a loop

this study is very preliminary

Yea whomever they hired for that project needs to at least put down some paint or cones. I was shocked driving over that stretch Sunday late at night. Couldnt tell where construction began or where the lanes I was supposed to drive on were. Never seen anything like that. I assume thats why we have seen a rash of accidents in that area lately.

agreed, so the idea is to elevate that entire portion?
Posted on 3/27/14 at 9:25 am to Geauxld Finger
No, not elevate. Widen US 61 and build frontage roads alongside US 61. There would be connectors at the ends of the project that would link the Airline corridor to I-10 west and east of the river.

they would have to eliminate traffic lights
Posted on 3/27/14 at 9:27 am to The Sad Banana
They need to fix the glaring issues FIRST!
Like.... not having I-10 go to one lane after the bridge!!!

I10 and I12 should be 6 lanes their entire distance through LA except maybe the 70 miles between Laffy and Lake Chuck.
And upgrading the old bridge to interstate standards is, alone, a 1.5 billion dollar project.

I don't think they'd eliminate signals. Maybe some smaller ones. But the major ones would have to remain. The operations would change...like, Michigan left turns, etc.
Here's the original Inner Loop article from four days ago.

hell about 15 of those miles are already 6-laned between LC and Iowa
