is it a "slump" or is it that this team is made up of below average hitters?

I honestly believe our lineup is stacked full of .300+ hitters. Really, at least 7 of the regular starting 9 should be .300+ hitters.

The two guys that I would have not been surprised if they were hitting below .300 coming into the season are our two best hitters right now (Stevenson and Sciv). So that oughta tell you something.

Everyone below should hit .300+ IMO:

McMullen
Laird
Breggy
Sciv
Hale
Ibarra
Stevenson

Few of these guys are playing like it right now, but they all should hit well THROUGHOUT the season.

So, in the end, I guess my answer is that it's ironic that a lot of our every day starters are slumping at the same time. I hate to say something that sounds so biased, but it's the only logical explanation I think fits what's currently going on.

One thing I'll say about McMullen. He's had some bad luck recently too. That ball he hit for a double play last night was a rocket shot.

Baseball is a strange game. Sometimes everything works right and a team plays a long stretch better than it really should. Sometimes a good team play poorly for a long stretch but that is not always a "slump". I see a lot of mental errors in the last few games. Bad base running, poor at bats, strange coaching decisions by coaches. It would be easier to accept this as slump if the coaches could get rid of some of the mental errors, especially on the bases. But man it is hard to win games if the pitchers have to hold the other guys to less than two runs.
