She's a great writer. The Poisonwood Bible is a favorite of mine.

ETA: Oh, and it's my final semester of college and I'm an English major, so reading for enjoyment doesn't happen right now.

Although I enjoy what I read at school.

Reading Light in August by Faulkner. It's good, but it's not my favorite Faulkner so far.

Haven't read any Steven King in many a year, but I'm reading 11/22/63 - the one in which the guy goes back in time to stop the JFK assassination. Awesome freaking book. Not his usual fare, and one of the best books I've read in a while (and I do a lot of reading).

Autobiography of a Yogi

Steve Jobs swore by it and read it dozens of times and also gave copies of it to the people who attended his funeral, so that intrigued me. So far it's pretty interesting.

Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty?

In studying the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world, Simon Sinek discovered that they all think, act, and communicate in the exact same way-and it's the complete opposite of what everyone else does. People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why.

Drawing on a wide range of real-life stories, Sinek weaves together a clear vision of what it truly takes to lead and inspire.

Great book so far. It starts off really making you think about everyday things too. My favorite from like the second page:

quote:

On a cold January day, a forty-three-year-old man was sworn in as the chief executive of his country. By his side stood his predecessor, a famous general who, fifteen years earlier, had commanded his nation's armed forces in a war that resulted in the defeat of Germany. The young leader was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. He spent the next five hours watching parades in his honor and stayed up celebrating until three o'clock in the morning.

I would be willing to bet that 90% of the people in this thread get this answer wrong without looking it up, although 90% of the people in here will assume the same answer.

His point is that leaders should make informed decisions, and even when we have all the information at our disposal, our decision may not always be right.
