That'll go over like a fart in church.

That just doesn't seem right. Like mixing oil and water.
ETA: I know Chevron is based out of San Ramon, CA, thus it's affiliation with UC Barkeley.

You gotta give Paul credit. He's not just giving lip service to minority and youth outreach, he's actually doing it. I think his views on foreign policy, the war on drugs, drone use and domestic spying will probably go over pretty well there. Check out what MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell had to say about him last night:

Paul will need to tread carefully there. It is Berkley. There will be anarchist types in the audience who'll want to push their POV. Paul needs to ensure he doesn't get drawn too far out, but he has a shot at driving in yet another wedge for the Dems to contend with.
Brilliant if he can pull it off.

Exactly! If Paul manages to get the nomination and faces Hillary, I predict he will be attacking her from the left as much as he's attacking her from the right, and that will give minorities and young people something to think about.

Really at Berkley? I know there will be big liberal types. I guess there could be that end of the spectrum too.

Paul has learned a lot from his father.
He will have by far the widest base of the political spectrum in both the primaries and general election.

audience has to come in with open heart/ears to be receptive of the message. there will be far too many douchebags there just to disrupt the place, and that will likely draw all of the attention.

Rand has a pair of brass ones if he's speaking at Berkley. Good for him if it works, but I see some damn hippy protesters starting shite before he even speaks.

If it goes well, I'll be real interested to hear what the folks at FOX News have to say about him.

He's an anytime, anywhere guy, you have to give him that. The left will find someway to smear him, but it won't be because he's afraid to talk to anyone..

I have a hunch that he will be attacked more from the right than from the left. Jennifer Rubin seems to be already attacking him on a daily basis.

Without a doubt, he is seen as a threat to the establishment GOP, which is a good thing.

Regarding Paul's NSA stand:
King says, “I think it’s an ignorant strategy, which shows that he’s unfit to be a leader of a party.”

I don't think I've read anything said by Peter King that did not tempt me to have an apoplectic fit.

He does, but this speaking engagement at Berkeley is not a particularly ballsy thing to do.
He is speaking on the NSA and Personal Privacy. This is one of the safest possible topics at an institution like Berkeley, where the NSA is looked upon with utter contempt.
If Rand goes to Berkeley and speaks on the second amendment, or the minimum wage, or extension of federal unemployment benefits, or repeal of Obamacare, or Benghazi, or the IRS' involvement in Tea Party groups, or the EPA, or climate change, or the Keystone pipeline, or deficit/debt reduction, or states' rights, etc. - THEN it would be meaningful.
It's a safe subject in a safe environment before a crowd that will be in full agreement with his position on the NSA and personal privacy.

If Peter King hates him, that just makes me like him more.
