JACKSON, MISS. — Mississippi House and Senate members must work out differences on a bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks' gestation.
The Senate passed House Bill 1400 unanimously on Tuesday, changing the bill to require more work.
Twenty weeks is halfway through a full-term pregnancy of 40 weeks. Exceptions to the 20-week ban would be made to prevent permanent physical damage or death of a pregnant woman, or in cases of several fetal abnormalities.
However, senators, on a split voice vote, rejected an amendment by Sen. Derrick Simmons, D-Greenville, to create an exemption for pregnancies that occur through rape or incest.

Sounds reasonable to me. 20 weeks is long enough to make a decision..abortion after that long of a time frame is just cruel and sick.

The decision to abort a fetus after an incidence of rape or incest should certainly be decided within the first 20 weeks of the pregnancy, right?

What if it's the rape of a minor who may be scared to admit what happened, resulting in the pregnancy not being known until after 20 weeks?

If they would add that then it sounds reasonable to me. If they don't and a woman gets raped my thoughts are she would get the abortion way before 20. That is just my 2 cents though.

Common sense abortion laws.

any number of circumstances could prevent this from happening. there is no reason at all to limit this and not limit risk of life to the mother.

In b4 Assrob lamenting the fact that more babies in Mississippi won't be murdered.

If that happened to my daughter I would either make her carry the baby to term and give it up for adoption or go to a state that didn't have the 20 week limit. I would probably be in prison for murder so I wouldn't have much say.

In France, it's 12 weeks.

But its NOT "20 weeks to make a decision"
Its 20 weeks gestation age. That usually means between 18-19 weeks after fertilization. 16 weeks after the missed period.
SCIENCE - try it out!
BTW - The standard isn't "long enough to make a decision according to X-jackass on TD.com" its VIABILITY. A 20 week fetus isn't viable. The youngest to EVER survive was 21 weeks and 6 days. This law is unconstitutional.

You mean the same science that is beginning to prove that these children can feel pain well before 20 weeks?

Too bad, might of made the bill reasonable...
...dead on arrival as it is.
