Yes! Pro abortion people never talk about the emotional damage an abortion causes. I've known several women who have had abortions and everyone of them regretted it. Not one would do it again if given the chance to do it all over.

Of course being raped will screw up somebody in the head but that is still not an excuse for having 5 months to get an abortion and not doing it. I never said a rape victim shouldn't get an abortion just that 5 months is plenty of time.

And I know several women who have carried their babies to term and either raised them or put them up for adoption.
The latter group always seems to be drug free, not depressed, and better adjusted to life in general. I wonder why that is? Or is my observation just an anecdote?

if you fricking SoCons had any fricking sense you would just drop the issue at that. reasonable people can have a reasonable discussion about all other aspects of abortion, but this is a 100% losing issue for SoCons all the way around.
on second thought, dont change. keep your dumbfrick backwoods attitude and watch your party burn. sure it will suck to have a guaranteed progressive in national office for the foreseeable future, but at least we might get around to the rise of a strong libertarian party out of the deal.

The situation must not be that bad because if it was that bad she would have gotten the abortion before 20 weeks. It is a bad situation no doubt but 5 months is plenty of damn time to get an abortion in any circumstance outside of endangerment to the mother.

If you will recall in this hypothetical situation it is my daughter so yeah I would have 50% of the say. Her mother would have the other.

What is the point of having a law when you write an exemption that makes the law null and void? A girl or woman could say that she got date raped by her bf but she doesn't want to press charges just get the abortion after 20 weeks the law become worthless (it already was because MS doesn't have an abortion clinic).

the reason we have exceptions and extenuating circumstances is because not every situation in life can be effectively regulated by a one size fits all piece of legislation.

While I agree that it is in bad taste to say that the hypothetical girl "deserves what she gets", this statement is false. There is a perfectly legitimate reason to limit abortions in the case of incest and rape, and that is that the unborn child is completely innocent. If those children conceived by consensual sex and that make it to 20 weeks are protected by law, then shouldn't all children that make it to 20 weeks?
