For the engineers it's not bad. I think they just do M-F 8-5. And then you might catch a few jobs on a weekend or during the week. Completion tools is more of a desk job

Field engineer will probably be 90% field work or more.

Not in Halliburton Completions. Most of the work is done at the facility. You really aren't a traditional "field engineer". Frac Engineers, Wireline Engineers, Cementing Engineers, etc. spend a lot of time in the field and are more of your real "field engineers".

Had dinner with some Halliburton execs at the IADC/SPE Drilling expo in Fort Worth this week. They said if you are in the Houston to Lafayette corridor and don't have a job right now, you're either a deadbeat not really trying to work or you're already dead.

Ride the wave while it's high, boys!

I actually had an interview today too. For engineering design job in Oklahoma. Guys name was Micah. It was a really laid back interview. Strictly behavioral questions. How'd it go

Duncan OK? That's going to be an R&D position most likely, not a field job. I would see if there are opportunities in Texas before Duncan. I've heard Duncan is not the most interesting place to be in the world.

I'm a design engineer for Halliburton and have had to go to Duncan a few times for various things.

Duncan is a miserable town. However, the cost of living is low so you have that going for you.

I felt like it went really well. The interviewer and I had a lot in common, spent half the interview bs'ing about random stuff. I hope I get a second interview, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. Who knows, maybe the recruiter posts here and is trying to figure out which candidate I am.

That schedule sounds more generous than it used to be. I started out on that side of the business but quickly made the jump to drilling before I got stuck there.
