Emotions aside...if you were a professional consultant giving an outsiders perspective, what would be your evaluation of the problems with this club?

You'd have to start with defensive fundamentals. They play zone, then leave their assignments. If they play man, they get abused by screens, because they don't communicate.

This is a very good offensive team, and Florida plays great defense, so not breaking 60 points isn't shocking. But, this team is too talented to lose this badly to anyone. I don't care how good Florida is (and they are a great team).

How do you lose by 18 and say the score didn't indicate how bad of a beatdown this was?

Huh. At least we broke 60. That's pretty good against Florida.

Against their bench in the last several minutes.

Get the 6 or 7 seed and hope Florida loses before the final.

Almost every single one of their 3's were uncontested. Almost every single one of ours were. We decided to not play defense today...

That's what happens when you don't have the size to defend the perimeter on defense

No wonder no one wants to go watch this team at the PMAC. The team is not good. Coaching is average at best. No excitement. Alleva doesn't care. So why should anyone else. Oh yeah, we are a football school BS.

Like S said, this team has some great talent, but it doesn't work well together. Hickey is to small and can't get into the lane well enough to force defences to collapse so he can get other players easy looks. JOB is atrocious on D and gives zero fricks on the court. Martin's feet aren't quick enough to defend other 3s and he doesn't know how to rotate on D. Shavon and Mickey are fine, but outside of those two, the rest of the team just doesn't work.

To top it off, our bench is pretty terrible, besides Stringer. Quarterman and Malone still have time to develop and they've at least shown they possess some level of skill. Odo and Morgan are what they are, and probably won't get any better. Hammink, I just don't think he's good enough to make it.

Next year's squad should be a much more cohesive unit that complements each others talents a lot better than this years team.

i was hoping odo would be a guy that we could actually rely on for 5-7 minutes a night to just rebound, commit a couple of enforcer type fouls and maybe a put back here and there. apparently he's been playing with a bum knee so hopefully that has more to do with it than anything and he can contribute next year.

I'm not trying to overreact to the loss. Besides the posters "I have a good feeling" this was expected to be a beat down. And it was.

We need to win 4 straight from here.

Guys and gals...I want to apologize for being frustrated with Men's Basketball at LSU. I love me some roundball and I just let my emotions get the best of me.

I am not a man of much patience and every year we hear the same mantra, "wait till next year." I get angry when fans keep talking about the Dale Brown era or how great Shaq and CJ35 were. Please...that was 25 years ago people.

I gonna have to stop getting frustrated and calm down any fruitful expectations concerning Men's basketball. A school like LSU should not be struggling like this if a commitment is made to the program.

I guess the true realization is that LSU cannot heavily invest in the three Men's sports without breaking the bank. Simple economics. Not enough cash to go around for elite coaches and assistants.

At least we will have another three weeks before Paul Manieri is being ridiculed for losing games. Whatcha going to do brother ?

So the next game features two teams that were horrible today. You would think LSU could beat Vandy who is down to something like 7-8 scholarship players, but who knows?

If by some fluke LSU gets an NCAA bid, doubt they will get far. They would have a better shot at winning a game or 2, if they made the NIT.
