And those who say this can't even support their opinion with any reasonable points.

"Comic book movie" isn't a genre. Science-fiction, fantasy, adventure and action all are and there have been films in these genre's since film was invented.

Particular characters might get breaks from time to time but the well of characters and concepts that come from comic books is virtually endless.

My only concern is Batista. I'm not sure how he will do as Drax

Does Drax even speak? I thought he was engineered for one sole purpose...to kill Thanos.

You might as well say that movies based on novels will fall off.

Looks good, but it's hard to tell. The guy from Gladiator has been in some real shite bombs lately.

Yes he speaks. Groot is the one who only says "I Am Groot!"

Drax has an internal struggle of what does his life mean and what is he supposed to do now that he has fulfilled his purpose in life.

I'm starting to loathe these people actually, at least the ones who are "tired." of ocmic book films.

The "comic book" is a visual medium that conveys narrative literally through storyboards. It is almost built to be a film in and of itself, and now we have the capability to put these things onto screen and give them motion. And we've seen plenty of different takes on the genre like Sin City, Superman, Ang Lee's Hulk, Scott Pilgrim, Watchmen, V for Vendetta the Avengers, etc. (granted some are graphic novels). And Marvel is starting to build a film universe, that is both unique and exciting.

There's nothing wrong with the trend

I cannot upvote your post more than once Freauxzen - i wish I could.

I thought Marvel confirmed a Black Widow film.

Not to mention the GN influence on TV.

I just wish that Marvel could get the rights to the X Men back.

Sony's been having financial issues the last few years so I'm hoping they'll be forced to sell Spiderman one day but I doubt Fox ever gets rid of X-Men.

When you are in the red, you don't sell one of your best, most reliable revenue streams.

DOFP is their second biggest production in company history behind Avatar. They are going all in X-Men.

Personally, I don't want to change what works. Would it be nice? Maybe.

I think it dilutes the properties if everything gets thrown in the universe. I like that there aren't any mutants so far. It let Marvel approach everything from certain, well-defined angles, which has helped the overall storytelling. Iron Man and Hulk come from science/technology and humanity's pursuits. Captain America and SHIELD are from government intervention. Thor and the Guardians are coming from a celestial presence. It has let them be really focused in HOW they developed narrative. Being limited has been a really good thing for Marvel.

Too much of a good thing can be bad.

And it could literally go on forever in film. Marvel has heroes change identities all the time. As the actors age, they could simply replace the identity as is often done in reboots in print without starting the story over.

I couldn't agree more. I always take it as these are miserable fricks who thought comic books were stupid growing up and don't want to admit they like them.

Same here. When these films start to fall off at the box office or stop delivering a solid product then I will be the first to admit it.

Seriously, it's become a blur of "must see blockbusters." Some are good, but it's getting tedious.

Some action movie are good; some are not.
Some indie movies are good; some are not.
Some horror movies are good; some are not.
Some historical dramas are good; some are not.

You see where I'm going with this? Just because a certain subset of movies includes some not so good films, means absolutely nothing.

No genre-film is going to hit all the right notes every single time. To hold that solely against comic book films is unfair.
