You don't see them often since they're nocturnal, You could have a female giving birth.

Probably a big arse rat. We had one when I lived in uptown Nola that sounded like a person walking around. Good luck with the traps.

Cool shite like this never happens to me

There are few things that I would enjoy more than to be in your situation on a Sunday afternoon with nothing to do.

I'd call over a friend to work the camera and have him pick up beer and I'd take some steaks out. We would strategize, drink beer and feast like kings for half the day and then once we are in prime condition move in for the taking.

Afterwards videos would be uploaded for all to enjoy.

This. Go outside and find entry point. Peanut butter and peanuts did trick for us with a squirrel. I caught it the day exterminator arrived. His disposal method? "You got a pool, right?"

If you have an animal bigger than a squirrel up there you should be able to find entry point.

If your that bored you could always go whack a hole in your roof and throw birdseed and peanuts in it. Then just wait for the action.

I have walked the perimiter of my house, and I see no access point for a pregnant opposum to get in. How the hell is that possible?

Tried to get to that point of the house in attic, and couldn't make it too far.

I'll say sometimes they can get in through the crawl space if the house has one. So the OP needs to check that as well.

Mama raccoon found her way into my attic and gave birth to 2 babies. Exterminators said they weren't licensed to deal with wildlife - LDWF wanted no part of it - local zoo ditto. Didn't want to go up there and shoot holes through my ceiling. Turned out that the city's (Monroe) animal control unit handled matters of this sort. They sent a guy over who removed the little ones. He told me to give mama a few days to come to the realization that there was no need to keep coming back to the nest and to then seal up her entryway. Wound up costing me a few hundred bucks for repairs but got things fixed up to where she never came back.

My house was pier and beam w/crawl space. Mama coon tore off screen protection on crawl space vent and gained access to attic via an opening in the framing around the arched front door. She then got onto the roof and began peeling off shingles in an attempt to provide herself with an alternate access point. Luckily, she made this attempt in a valley in the roof that was reinforced with metal flashing. Animal control guy said she would have scratched and chewed a hole through the roof if she had found the wood decking.
