she sounds like a real bitch. people are so sensitive you have to watch what you say.

Political correctness gone awry. I can understand someone preferring not to be addressed in that manner but sheesh just politely ask someone not do it.

why are some black people sensitive to being called "boy"?
There are many white people offended by this as well.
I actually once saw a man bite another man's ear off in a bar fight because the guy called him "boy".

Your trailer isn't an office and you can just say your sister instead of woman A

After living in the south, I call every woman/girl waitress/bartender/etc "darlin'"...
I can see how some women might get their jimmies rusteled though.

Then you don't work for a multi national corporation

I'd be fired within a month

As with most things in life, you have to know your audience. If you don't have the rapport to use names like that with someone then don't.

I wouldn't say it in an office. It can be taken as condescending, like calling somebody "sweetie" or "son"

Woman at a restaurant called me honey TWICE just now!
Should I get that bitch fired?

Yes because a restaurant is the same as a professional corporate setting

Do y'all live in the south. Jesus.
This would never be a problem in our home office and we have 200 people there.

You can thank a late 1980's invention called "Human Resources" for that shite.

C'mon now nurse you knew I was joking.
It isn't appropriate in a professional setting but I would probably let it slide if I thought someone said it on accident. Raised in Louisiana and live in Texas now though.

This, although the older guys in my office refer to me as kid sometimes. Even recently and I'm in my 30s.
To the OP, she shouldn't have blown up but calling any woman that you don't know "honey" has been a bad idea since 1959.

I didn't mean anything offensive by the word. My God,
why are women so sensitive by that???
Calling a woman honey who you work with can come off as condescending. She probably could have refrained from snapping at you and just asked that you not call her honey again though.

Jeez!! I was asking a co-worker at our corp office to help me with something. During our conversation, I said,
"I know honey". She snapped, "I'M NOT HONEY".

Because this country is full of people that just can't wait to be offended by something.

No worries
If it was a waitress or bartender she was likely trying to be friendlier in hopes of a better tip.
I wouldn't get a male coworker fired if they called me "honey" at work but I would def pull him aside and tell him it's not cool.
