This has happened before where a cop has arrested a firefighter for following policy. Video of previous incident
Traffic is routinely blocked like this to protect EMS and other first responders who are working the scene so other drives don't hit them and cause more issues.
I'm not sure what the officer was thinking. Maybe the firefighter insulted his wife?

Secondly, the firefighter was following policy and said he would have to check with his captain before moving the truck. The cop is fully aware of how policy and chain of command works. Cop acted unprofessionally and needs to be punished for his stupidity.
this is standard for most all depts. Incidents on major highways (interstates) are very dangerous to all that are involved. Every motorist wants to rubberneck and usually causes another wreck. Thats the purpose of placing your apparatus in a position to protect all that are on scene. (emts,ff,police, witnesses)

Exactly!! While in the military, I was a reserve officer for Shreveport PD, it would have never crossed my mind to interfere with FD or EMS while working an accident. Cop is a dumbass

It's truly sad.
The position of LAW enforcement has evolved into Power Trip for some low IQ losers.
There are good PO's that know the law and enforce it.
We get it, people don't like tickets, but we understand that you are doing your job enforcing the law.
When Cops do stupid stuff like this, there is little to no sympathy.

fairly accurate rendition of my response.

First of all, he isn't a local cop he is a California Highway Patrol officer (CHiP). The argument that led to the (admittedly) ridiculous arrest was over the Fire Engineer parking his truck in the center lane of the highway across the center divider from the accident. It was causing massive pileups and the Trooper told him to move the truck. The Engineer said "nope" since the fire department policy dictates that they block lanes in both directions.
A dick measuring contest ensued and the dummy CHP guy hooks up the Engineer. He puts him in the car and 30 minutes later a Supervisor gets him out and uncuffs/unarrests him. The agencies involved are currently "reviewing" the situation.
But don't let the facts get in the way of a good cop bashing. Carry on.
None of the "facts" that you posted has changed my opinion that the cop was clearly in the wrong. You have a skewed view of the situation.

I smell Bacon. Mixed with shite...
Because you are a cop I will spell this out.
I just insinuated (hinted) that you are a cop and you smell.

Hey, at least the cop didn't break his arm.

F'ing hilarious. My entire post had ZERO to do with how much of a dumbass the CHP officer was/is/will be forever.
The point was that all of the obvious facts are in the OP/Link but everyone above me was just running amok with statements completely off board. I.E. Saying the guy was a Chula Vista PD officer. That Firemen have powers of arrest (?!) Still haven't figured that one out. Etc.
Now leave me alone and get back to cop bashing.

Why leave you alone when we can cop bash you personally?

I'm not the Man but don't let the facts get in your way.

Was your dad the cop, or a close uncle maybe?
