Since men get zero paid leave for maternity, I would say that women do in fact get extra paid leave for maternity.
And do you have anything other than anecdotal evidence to back that up?

3nOut just had evidence. Not good enough for you?

Because tyler whatever said men don't get the same leave as women, and legally that's not true.
and I'm saying in reality it is true

Start by talking to your company's human resources department. Many employers are required by federal law to allow their employees (both men and women) 12 weeks of unpaid family leave after the birth or adoption of a child under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Well that's the men's choice.
If he qualifies. Many men do not

Some companies do, but don't act like all do. Mine doesn't for sure and I refuse to show you my handbook.

1 piece of anecdotal evidence. Hooray. It must be an overwhelming norm

I read an article last week that with Obamacare employer mandate kicking in next year, the wage inequality is get larger.

He is leaving a bunch of stuff out.
There are also more restrictions on top of this. That 50 person payroll eliminates a lot of people right from the start.
quote:
To be entitled to leave, you must meet three requirements:
your company must have at least 50 employees on the payroll,
you must have been working for the company for at least a year, and
you must have worked an average of about 24 hours a week during the last year (1,250 hours in total)
Even if you meet these requirements, there are some exceptions that would restrict your ability to take leave. Your employer does not have to provide leave if:
the company does not have 50 employees within 75 miles of the workplace, or
you are among the highest paid 10% of employees
There are also more restrictions on top of this. That 50 person payroll eliminates a lot of people right from the start.

After having children, many women do not want to work late hours or weekends, or travel out of town. This would account for part of the disparity.

I would say more people work for companies with <50 on payroll, but of course this is the OT where everyone is a small business millionaire.

The only thing that would disqualify me would be the top 10% part, but that certainly isn't in our handbook

The overwhelming norm is that it is HIGHLY more likely and common for women to get any sort of paid maternity leave than men. Whether or not you want to admit that is your own problem.

Proof besides you just saying so?

I'd bet a shite ton a money that the ratio of days taken by women for maternity leave far exceeded those of men taking paternity whether paid or unpaid. Having a law that allows the same 12 weeks of unpaid leave doesn't take away from the fact that men tend to miss less time from work than women. If you don't think that factors into pay then I don't know what to say.

why the need to go there?
Just saying that the 50 person law eliminates a lot of people. A lot doesnt have to be >50%.
