Awesome responses guys, thank you.

Her name is Ella, middle name is Jane after my wife's mother.

To the guys expecting in the coming days / weeks, the delivery is so amazing. My wife had 3 good pushes and out slid a little baby girl.

In the moment, the doctor says: " it's a...I could barely breath, it was amazing.

I also cut the cord. That was crazy awesome.

Thanks, man.

I'm looking at my wife in an entirely different way now. Holding her during the delivery literally blew my mind.

Even with the epidural, I could not see myself doing that.

adorable little girl into this world

Good luck with that. I've got a 22 month old daughter who is such a little diva with an attitude and mind of her own already.

First, you share a name with God. Congrats on being a father. This may be the most important experience of your life.

I was so terrified in finding out we were pregnant and that we were having a daughter. I thought about all of the bro trips I would miss and late nights I would be trading in for changing diapers. I am continually reminded that raising my daughter is a way that I can change the world -- raise her well, raise her to be better than you, and she will turn out just fine.

Now, for a few things I wish I would have known:

1. Don't pressure your wife for sex. Things will eventually level out as far as how she feels and when she will want to have sex again. It will likely not be the same but I promise you won't care as much as you think you will. The trade is worth it.

I would also say the same thing about her getting back into any shape she was previously in. Don't pressure her to immediately hit the gym. However, if you see her sinking into postpartum stuff, gently address it and BE PATIENT. It's a huge change for her, too!

2. Buckle up and get ready for very little sleep. You'll eventually settle into this as well but go ahead and just accept the fact that your previous sleep patterns will be changed in some way.

3. Find some ways to manage stress. Whatever your thing is just DO IT. You need to make sure to build in some time for yourself and she needs time for herself. It's tough man. It's a complete life change. But again, so worth it. I've never fought and argued with my wife more. It's a sucky combination of frustration, lack of sleep, and monotony. Find some way to manage!

Good luck. Enjoy this time and soak it up. I'm 5 months in and am figuring all of this out as well. May God bless your family.

Congrats.

Now, the advice. Baby girls can projectile poop. Never, ever, under any circumstance, change a diaper while at her feet rather than her side.

When they are older listen without overreacting. Let them know their safety and raising (not being their friend) are most important to you but make your conversations a safe place where she can be honest without being scared of your reaction. Take her for 1 on 1 time when she hits middle school and high school. Your relationship will flourish and you will not regret it.

My wife and I are in the room expecting our first. A son!

Should be ready to roll any minute now. Hopefully he'll be here within a couple of hours. Can't wait to meet him.
