Individual racing sports should use the same formats that team sports uses?

NASCAR has put too much emphasis on the Chase. I like it better when it was about the individual race. You were the Daytona 500 Champion. The Championship ended up going to whomever had the best overall season.

Part of me likes this, but part of me likes the changes now, makes it more exciting

There are single car "teams" in NSACAR

I think golf should reseed everyone after 3 rounds and then whoever shoots the lowest final round score wins the tourney

so now you are comparing a playoff format to a single "game" setting. yeah, keep reaching champ.

not a fan of this at all.

What if you number one going into the chase, then you wreck or blow an engine in the first race, your pretty much eliminated.

Last year dale Jr blew his in engine in the first race, but then busted his arse in the next 9 and was still a race behind cause of the wreck. The chase is just a lottery now.

Why not just add the field of 43 now

You can win one of the other races and you are automatically in the next round. It's simple... win and you're in.

These are the anti-Jimmy Johnson rules. They are tired of him winning the damn thing!

They keep having the final race in Miami. Dumb. Nobody wants to watch that.

Now a final championship race at Daytona or Talladega?
Ratings gold

I have never understood why they have it in Miami!

You want the honest truth?

It's because Homestead was the last track on the schedule when they first implemented the Chase

Part of it is probably weather.

I think an easy way to solve the old point system vs. chase points system is to recognize the overall points winner. I don't know what you would call it. But you could have a chase champion, and another award for the overall points winner. Kind of like college basketball and regular and conference tourney champs.

Miami is the best choice for having good weather in November, so it makes sense to have the last race there.

I hate this new format though. I'd rather go back to the old points system and no chase.

I agree!
I'm tired of watching Jimmy racing for points.
Since I hate JJ and Hendrick I love this.

I think the end of the season will be fantastic.

Except as others have said, Homestead. What a freaking joke.

Why do people complain about JimmIE racing for points? He wins more than the other drivers. Most of his "racing for points" finishes were when he still manages to finish in the top-5 with a banged up race car. The man has 66 career wins. Do people complain about Jr. racing for points? He wins once every couple of years, he must just be points racing every week, right?

That format blew chunks, I'm sorry.

They just want to complain about the 48

And now you've gone and done it saying something about Jr.

Go Jeff and Jimmie!

I can't decide if I like the new format or not. I'm leaning towards not though

And agree that the final race in Miami blows

Huh? Junior is decent driver, but nobody complains about him racing for points because that's all he is-decent.

these new rules make it exciting (and prevents jimmie from winning as much.. thank god). NASCAR will never cut back on the number of races cause they make so much damn money from each race regardless of how many people watch on tv.
