I would argue that Stromile and Mickey are much more comparable. Tyrus could do two things. catch alley oops and block shots.
Stro had a more polished offensive game imo.

Stro also looked not so great in his first year
He looked like he could barely dribble the ball from what I recall

Thomas was taller and more explosive. Mickey is a better all around basketball player. If Mickey was a couple inches taller he's be such a beast.

Tyrus was about 6'7. Yeah I know LSU listed him at 6'9, they lie. I have a hard time believing Tyrus is taller than Mickey
I'll give you the explosive part.

So much hate in this thread. WTF is wrong with you people. Thomas and Mickey are totally different players. Thomas grew like 7 inches his senior year in HS. He could jump out the gym and was not a polished inside player. Mickey can jump, but not out the gym, he's just way more disciplined defensively and really smart offensively. Stro was a freak and helped try to bring LSU back to basketball prominence. Brady killed one of the more talented teams in LSU history.
It's ridiculous to compare these three. Different teams, expectations, and way different players. All very good in their own right in college.

Thomas was 6'8 1/4" officially
He was a dominant rebounder too. But Mickey does everything else just as good, if not better

Tyrus measured 6'8.5" before the draft. Mickey doesn't have the height that could make him elite.

TT was a little more explosive and would catch some ridiculous alley oops, but Mickey is muchhhh more polished and skilled offensively then Thomas was. This thread got me looking at some Tyrus Thomas highlights and man that guy had so much energy and athletic ability. It sucks he turned out to be a bust.

100% agree
Lets not forget tyrus and Garret's performances were X factors that year. No one expected them to play that well as redshirt freshman. This especially applies to tyrus. He was a recruit specifically on athleticism. Mickey has more of a skill set than tyrus did, but tyrus was a little more fun to watch.

Thomas had a neck injury his true freshman year if I recall. Way too many people throwing shots at players of our past in this thread. F'ing ridiculous as fans of LSU.

If true, my bad. I thought I remember him measuring in the 6'7 range. Same thing happened with Bass. He was 6'6 and some change.
ETA: I just looked it up, I was right. He was 6'7.25

As serious as your statements are ridiculous. To clarify that for you; very serious.

6'8.25" with shoes. Either way he is taller than Mickey.

Not drunk at all. They are three totally different players. I don't know how much more clarification you want on that. I've witnessed all three. We're talking about college players here, not what we think they will be as pros. Thomas was a game changer on the defensive end. Stro was on the offensive end. Mickey on both but doesn't have the coverage Thomas did or the overall length that Stro did. I just think it's ridiculous to compare them because they are within 5 inches of each other and block some shots. It's like comparing Chris Jackson to Randy Livingston to Darrel Mitchell....stupid.

See my latest post. Just throw them in a mold and try to make them the same....you're just being stubborn. I expect that with you. Add Mike Hanson into my comparison if it helps you understand...but it won't. Good night.
