It's the 3rd best selling album all time world wide.

Tied for best selling in the US.

Every person born in the mid 40's to mid 50's bought that album....then bought the cassette.....then bought the CD.......and is now downloading it off iTunes.

Two thoughts come to mind:

1) Access and exposure to most music was limited to FM radio. I don't think one had the choices one does today.

2) The Eagles had a cross-genre appeal .. pop, country, rock and 'hippie,' though not the Dude.
