That's not something a typical sugar daddy would do.
he almost assuredly didn't realize he was a sugar daddy, while she viewed the relationship differently
i mean this isn't some amazing scenario...i'd imagine 30 years ago she was fine as frick. she's not an idiot, and she was a poor single waitress from a poor family. easiest way to get out is to seize on her most depreciating asset (her looks) to benefit her financial position

And all that is fine and dandy and I'm sure it happens all across this great land of ours.
But those girls aren't trying to run for high public office and the fishbowl that comes along with that
I'd be amazed if she weathers this and goes on to win higher office.

she's been in government for almost 20 years and hasn't gotten above state legislator. she just figured a way to get the publicity to run for a bigger office

this is why i'm saying i'm betting she's done, even in her podunk state legislator seat
she's cashing in for TV and nothing more
*ETA: or she's just fricking insane

Nah, she's going to sign a lucrative TV deal or get some cushy pro-choice lobbying gig.
The ideological opposite of Sarah Palin in terms of her career trajectory once she realized she wasn't winning higher office.

she's certainly showing the DNC that she can raise money
she may be another sandra fluke, though. the DNC loves to use up, chew up, and spit out to ignore political operatives

Well she is certainly a single-issue candidate right now. It'll be interesting to see if she can diversify herself in the face of this impending sugar-daddy fiasco.

that's why i think she has "fluke" potential

This article will hurt her big time. Her background seems like something liberal women would be totally against.
As long as she's "right" on abortion, nothing else matters.

The choice crowd won't have as much of a problem with her. After all, one of the fundamental tenets of that position is being able to choose when you want to be a mother. Now it gets more cloudy when you want to make that choice once you've brought life into the world, but it won't crush her there.
It will destroy her with moderates, though.

I agree. I think this crushes any viability for office and relegates her to talking head status.

Just had to pre-empt our resident libs playing the "you hate women" or "partisan hack" cards. Also wanted to note that my position isn't just political. I take it personally because the lady I worked with is a good person who deserved better.
I respect Gillibrand and Duckworth and they're both D women.

I'm also curious to see how she addresses the topic of the initial petition for divorce mentioning adultery but the final judgment only mentioning something similar to "irreconcilable differences'.

I do like the way her daddy pimped her out.
What a guy!

I sincerely hope this was not just about being overly ambitious.

Just clicked the article for the hell of it, only vaguely knew who this woman was.
Holy hell though. She voluntarily gave up custody of her kid from a former relationship to her 2nd husband? She left the guy the day after the last payment of her education? Like, geeeeezus. She sounds like a sleezy politician all right.

Why not?
When you have the stance on abortion that Wendy Davis and you're running for Governor of fricking Texas, you have no shot.
Just like a rabid pro-lifer would have no shot in New York or Massachusetts.
