Man this sucks just put everything together and figured out who you were talking about. His wife and her son from a previous relationship are friends of the family. Man this sucks to young for people to die over bullshite like this. Now those kids his wife's and the one thy had together will grow up without a father.

I don't know what it is with the violent culture here. It's engrained in peoples brains. And I guess it could happen anywhere. I grew up in a small town loaded with guns. There weren't as many bars, but people drank. People got in fights. People got their arse beat. Never heard of shite like this though. Black, white, cause-related or not... it's a damning indictment on society.

Depends on where you go really. I can count on one hand the number of fights I have seen in a New Orleans bar the last five years (outside of the quarter), much less someone using a weapon.

OP said he was a rapper.

white rapper gets gunned down on the West Bank at 2:30am after mentioning fighting and getting drunk as shite all week on his FB,

And Lester said the place he was rapping at was notorious for fights.

Was he rapping to make money? Too late and too sad for him and his family now, but the mention of rapping, fighting and getting drunk in the early hours of the morning at a risque place doesn't seem like something a person should do if they have a wife & kid that need them.

I know the Westbank has seen a major increase in gang violence recently. Mostly in Algiers, wonder if gangs are involved...

Terrible for this guys family, hope the child will be cared for.

Some girl on my Facebook was talking about this. It's a damn shame. So many good people dying recently.

You're going to get burned for this, but your point still stands. I'm sure this guy was probably just earning money to support his family in the best way he knows how, but working a rap show at a westbank bar known for fighting is dangerous work, and something like this was bound to happen at some point to someone. It sucks that he had a wife and a kid and a stepkid at home that now have to mourn a husband and father.

Prayers for the OP and the victim's family. Let's hope the POS gets brought to justice, as far too many of them do not.

I doubt he was getting paid much. Probably just like a comedian would do stand up in a bar. For the exposure & love. I can look at the guy and tell he isn't supporting a family by rapping in a Daquiri shop

RIP to him and prayers all around. I went through something like this in early fall and lost another loved one right before Christmas.
Messed me up a little of course just like loss does to all of us, but make sure to keep on trucking the best you know how is the only advice I can give.
They always say that the show must go on, and life unfortunately sometimes has to, but what gave me comfort is that I gained another couple of allies in the eternal show. Sounds cheesy I know, but sometimes in situations like these you just have to battle back to find any kind of optimism through the pain- my condolences.

Jefferson Parish investigators have an arrest warrant for the gunman they say killed a 22-year-old from Gretna after a heated exchange at The Edge Sports Bar & Daiquiris in Harvey early Saturday. Devin Bonilla of Marrero is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder, the JPSO said.

The Sheriff's Office said witnesses saw Bonilla shoot Bowie Richard at the La Palco Boulevard bar around 2:40 a.m. Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, said Bonilla was last seen fleeing the scene in a dark-colored, 4-door 2001 Ford-F150. It had the license plate B-850460.

Anyone with information about Bonilla is asked to call the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office's Investigations Bureau at 504.364.5300 or Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111 or toll-free at 877.903.7867
