I'm one of the biggest supporters on here, but I'd say "very good shape" may be a bit of a stretch.

I'm thinking NIT, maybe. Can't set my expectations high with this club. Jones can recruit but his game coaching is suspect. His players also don't play the fundamentals well. Poor passing resulting in turnovers, bad defensive technique equating to early foul trouble, etc. Maybe as the season goes on, they will improve.

I'll be there

I feel like if we can win these next two games it'll give us a ton of momentum going into the Alabama game. We haven't beaten Alabama in the Coliseum since 04, but I really think we will have a much better shot this year especially if we can win these next two.
I have zero confidence for this team to win these next three, but that can easily change tomorrow depending on how we play. Vandy hasn't lost a game by double digits once this year, so we'd better learn how to finish if we have the lead late and want to win. Mizzou will be tough as well even though they've been struggling.

I'm desperately hoping this team gets it's shite straight and can somehow find a way to win these next three before going into the UK game. It would be huge... But it all starts tomorrow, one game at a a time

Get this one, things will look better with three of next four at home. We can get at least two of three from Ark, KY, and Mizzou.

Vandy only has 7 players...

They have 7 healthy scholarship players plus a couple of walk-ons, though they get very few minutes.

But, some of the pieces are still there. Those pieces just need to play better.
Also, CJJ needs to do a better job. I would say his coaching and JOB's play are the 2 biggest culprits this year so far.

I agree with all Rouster. Nothng we can do about the last 5 games, which have been mostly bad, undisciplined basketball on our part.

One positive is that the last two games we've rebounded better. To me our issues on the boards were inexplicable.

If we can shore that up we can shore some other things up but it will take pulling together.

I've been very discouraged by our play of late. Were expectations too high? Maybe. But to me that does not explain the regression in the overall fundamental facets of the game and seeming lack of a sense of purpose on offense.

Stringers not going to bang out 5 25-30 footers every night. We need to find and identity on offense and find it fast.

And with the stuff we're running I have concerns about that.

SOS is right, press till our shoes come off. That's the only time we seem alive.

Yes, we all agree. Petal to the metal from the git/go. If anyone doesn't hustle and give maximum effort, then to the bench with them. The lazy, casual way we have been approaching the game lately is way beyond frustrating. Leading culprits are Hickey, Mickey, JOB and Morgan. The only real hustle I saw out there last game was Coleman and Stringer.

And right again, don't think we will see Stringer like that ever again. Some of those shots he made were fantastic! It is tough when he is not hitting but boy when he is.

But you know, I watched the game again and that really was a great zone Ole Miss threw against us. Have to give them credit it totally took us out of our game until Stringer started hitting.

But we still could have gotten through it if we just had not been so timid and attacked. That's the other thing. Everyone afraid to take a shot or make a move. Being uptight and fearful, trying too hard is causing turnovers. Got to play with confidence.

Hammink has vastly improved his defense I want to see more of him on hot shooters.

Win against vandy and go 3-2 or 2-3 in the next five in my realistic opinion. 5-4 thru 9 sec games

Going through our schedule, to me 11-7 looks realistic.

The only issue with that is our 5 losses I see not much hope in winning those. Yet our remaining 10 wins, at least half of those will be a dog fight.

Just being a realist here, it wouldn't shock me if we finished 7-11.

For me hard to say, cause as you say we were so timid, hesitant and stagnant. Just didn't look like we had a clue what to do. Stringer hit some unreal long threes from beyond the pressure points of the zone, not really as a result of any fluid offensive movement.

Agreed Tom. And part of being confident is being prepared and knowing what to do. Not alot of that right now on offense against man or zone.

I expected us to be 2-1 conference at this point and we're 1-2 so that's something we can overcome by beating someone we maybe were not expecting to.

But I did expect us to be executing the fundamental things better than we have to this point and that's the concern. And the veteran kids like Hickey and JOB3 have really regressed of late.

We need them to get get on board to get where we should be. Because whether or not we expected too much, I think one can reasonably say it was fair to expect better than we've played the last 5.

Spot on IMO. But, it's correctible. I think the Tigers put things together a little better tonight. Despite the loss, I think the team did some things well against Ole Miss. There's enough talent & pride on this team to fix the issues of late.

This is why I feel like some of the criticism of Jones is unwarranted. Some of the blame is on the players. Our post players were open at times, but our guards didn't do a good job of getting them the ball. Then again, I can't really blame them if they're worried about our front-court turning it over.

I'd love to see him on Odum. He's one of the few tall enough and quick enough to stay on him.

I just dont understand why we dont flash someone to middle of zone. Too often our big men are too close together amd one player can keep tabs on them. Our post wih lack of touches really tries to force the issue when they do get the ball which is why I think turnovers are up
