Derp

I need a new gun. I think I want an all steel either 9mm or .45. If I go .45 I want a 1911 I think, but don't have big $$. Budget is $400-600.

I'm leaning towards cz75 and the knockoffs (baby eagle, eaa witness), Baretta 92, maybe a PX4, Remington 1911, or maybe a Sig P220.

What do y'all got? This will be for home defense, occasional carry/car and shooting.

And, I'd prefer something with a hammer, with either a de-cocker or safety.

Based on your budget you're at the extreme low end of the 1911 world. The cz's are fine pistols but not my personal taste.

- Metro Arms 1911's (American Classic)
- Rock Island Armory 1911's
- CZ75 variants
- Beretta 92
- Taurus PT92 (Probably their best pistol besides Judge)

Most metal Sigs are 800+ I believe the Remington 1911 is higher as well.

The PX4 is a polymer gun.

Your suggestions point towards a DA/SA. Is this correct?

You can probably find a nice used Sig P226 in that price range, and they're great guns.

There is a Para Expert .45 at Academy for $550. That's a great deal. That's what I would get.

I have a mil spec Springfield arms 1911 that was 600 plus tax. Nice entry level 1911 in my opinion.
