She represents a fairly conservative district near Fort Worth. She ran as a big moderate. Only now has her voters seen what she really is....She would get beat by 10 points for the same seat if she ran again. That being said, she will be much more popular than I would want statewide.

She was on the cover of Texas Monthly a few months ago too. She's got a lot of money behind her movement - especially with the Castro bromance and Hispanic voters behind her.

I saw that cover on the news rack at the grocery store and almost took it out and pissed on it.....
ETA I guarantee if they would have published a photo of Cruz, Perry, and Cornyn on the cover liberals would have figured out a way to stop distribution of that rag....

Why do you hate women?
Oh that reminds me, I have a thread you can start tomorrow. I know you love starting a thread a day re in depth topics. This one is a bit more intellectual than your usual threads but leaves open a huge back door for juvenile humor. Perfect for you. Here it is:
Why do Republican women tend to wear pumps and Democratic women tend to wear flats?

Abbott is a fundie idiot, but probably not.

I don't think she will win, and that's probably for the best because a candidate should not be elected based on a single issue.
However, I think we are witnessing the beginning of the inevitable transformation of Texas into a blue state.

No, the left has spread so much hate about women that don't agree with them, you really have no room to call anyone out.
This is a pretty embarrassing attempt at a gotcha here considering how the left treats women that don't walk the prog line.

TX Gov seat is probably the weakest in the nation. The state leg meets only every other year and for only 3 mos of that.
The way a state should be run

True, but it is an image thing though I suppose. If the nation sees Texas with a Democratic governor, it could spur more campaign spending and activity in other Texas elections.
I also don't buy that Davis outraising and outspending means that she has a good shot of winning. I read that Ann Richards outspent George W. Bush in the '90s election, and Bush won that election pretty easily.

By only 500k and Abbott already had 27 million in his warchest before this last quarter,
No, a candidate running, pretty much strictly on being pro-abortion, is not going to win a race for Texas governor.

from Texas.
I seriously don't know a single person that would vote for her in the General.
I don't love Greg Abbot and am not a single issue voter, but she's pretty much made herself a single issue candidate.
From my understanding A) her campaign numbers are inflated heavily due to her counting statewide efforts (Battleground Texas) as hers and B) her area would not vote for her given another chance.
Her money is coming from out of state. not locally.

A lot can happen in elections so I would not say she had no chance but her chances are damn slim, I am talking slightly better than mine slim (and obviously I am not running).
Her allegedly raising more money for this period is meaningless.
Timing of the election matters as well (off cycle) what is going to get more than the yellow dogs out in the midterms?
Hell, there are multiple state reps on the R ticket running completely unopposed.
As far as Texas turning blue, I don't see it happening as long as we can keep the voter ID law. Hard for the dems to cheat (which they do) with that in place.

I live in her district
When she ran in 2008/2012 not once did she ever mention she was a democrat.... her campaigns both years simply consisted of negative character destruction campaigning against her male opponents, casting them as women hating mysoginists that hate women and hate women, and also hate women.
That carried her to 2 razor thin victories.

But she has no chance... remember Texas population of suburban and rural voters outnumbers urban voters.
She will win the urban vote from places like Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, especially Austin, and also the hispanic votes from the border cities and El Paso
But that won't be enough to overcome the suburban vote and the rural vote, as well as the "rural city" vote from Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, San Angelo, and cities like that. Cities that have 100,000+ population but don't fit the typical modern day urban mold of cities like Dallas.
