I know. I guess that's just part of living out in the sticks in SW Miss.

Had that happen to me a couple years ago heading to our land lease to duck hunt.

Got less than a mile from the camphouse and saw a 6 point on the side of the rode, slowed down and here he came. He hit the asphalt in front of the truck and down he went. As he got up he smacked my bumper and took off across the road. Stood there for a second and ran back to where he came from to begin with.

I didn't think anything of it until I saw it in the daylight. He ripped my front tag nearly completely off and knocked my bumper out on the driver side about half an inch.

When I first got my truck I had a doe jump a guard rail an slam into the side of the truck. She got up and ran off. Looked and couldn't find any damage. Got home and got my flashlight and saw hair stuck between the rim and back tire. She has hit the tire instead of the truck body.

I've been very lucky. :knocksonwood:

There were 3 on the edge of the interstate between Oneal and Denham Springs at 10:30 last night. Very unusual to see them there.

Your post reminds of the Ron White bit where he makes fun of his BIL for going hunting at 3AM in the freezing cold.

I hit a pretty good sized buck in November of 2012 and it totaled my truck. I had to limp it back probably 7 or 8 miles to get to a gas station via the moonlight. I had my son with me and we just about got runover twice before I moved my truck. I hit it doing about 50 mph on a road where the speed limit was 60 mph. I didn't see anything in the woods from my stand, but we saw 17 on our way home. Cop went back to look for the deer, said it had already been picked up. Guts on the side of the road, nothing else.

I hit a doe back in October, it cost me a $185 headlight and it dicked my quarter panel up on my new (to me) pickup.

I'm just going to have to ride with someone else next fall.

Do those whistles you mount to a bumper not work?

The one's on the front of my old truck didn't work. I had a pic on my old phone of what was left of one of the whistles with the deer hair attached to it.

Ron White: My cousin Ray on the other hand thinks that killin' a deer with a deer rifle is like magic in the forest. And now, I would like to do for you now my impression of my cousin Ray after the big kill. "Hell, it was four in the mornin', 22 degrees outside. 'Course, you weren't there. Pussy. I'm in a camouflaged deer blind. I've got grease paint on my face and deer urine on my boots. I'm not sure why." I made that part up. "I've got a 30-06 with a laser scope. This baby will fire a bullet 2200 feet per second. When that deer looked up to lick the salt sucker I hunged from the danged ol' tree... caught him right above the eye." Yeah, well, I hit one with a *van* goin' *fifty-five* miles an hour with the headlights on and the horn blowin'!

This one...thats good stuff. We were watchin that the other night. How ironic.

it takes a car to hit a deer, but it takes balls to catch a hog.

I'm in the Smithdale community. It's about 11 miles north of Liberty and 16 miles west of McComb .
