Best of luck to him. We have a lot of depth at OL, hopefully the new coach will earn his paycheck early.

Turner is at best a 6th rounder

Or they simply ran out of time when they need to declare by the 15th and today is the 13th.

it's kinda rediculous..... I don't get why after last years failures either? Mayb they catch on at some point?

If I was him I would come back and grap that chance for a higher signing bonus plus get a degree.

No one has really failed though, besides Montgomery. And if he got picked up by the Raiders.
Get used to this though, because college football is becoming more and more like college basketball.

As long as the NFL continues to sign college kids 3 years removed from high school, kids like Hill will go pro. Guys like Collins & Turner will forego their degree and senior seasons. I can argue from both sides (LSU v. NFL) on the positives and negatives but I see the problem as the NFL. It's the immediate gratification culture and not very many of these kids gives a damn about a college degree. Get used to it, nothing's going to change anytime soon if at all!

some people have to go even if they are undrafted...he will get drafted late but still get paid and that is the reasoning behind leaving early

Who told him that it was a good idea to leave? I keep reading that he has "bad knees," but does anyone actually know if that's true? I remember him having some ankle issue this year, but never heard about his knees.
Show me another program that has 17 early departures in two years, many of which could seriously benefit from another year.

A college degree does not have anywhere near the value of an NFL career. Step away and look at it from an unbiased perspective. Most of these guys are not getting engineering degrees or becoming CPAs. Their degrees will usually make them qualified for jobs that earn around 10% of an NFL salary.

LSU had an insanse amount of early departures last year, because it had an insane amount of talent. But the majority were all guys that had been in the program 4 years.
Look all around college football, all the elit teams are dealing with those same departures this year. Alabama will have 5 or 6 go, same with FSU and Florida. Teams like USCe are even dealing with this. This is the new landscape of college football, not just LSU.

Congrats to the kid and all that. But come talk to me in 2 years and we'll see who's right. I never once said anything bad about the guy. Maybe he can be the guy that finally breaks through from LSU on the Oline but I doubt it.
