Bluegrass must haves

I know that there was a bluegrass thread on the board several months ago, but I am trying to expand my very limited bluegrass playlist. I would love to know what the board thinks are must haves, both classic and contemporary.
Right now I have Flatt & Scruggs - Foggy Mtn Breakdown, Jimmy Martin - Tennessee, Bill Monroe - Little Georgia Rose, Ricky Skaggs - Uncle Pen. I am thinking about picking up Alan Jackson's bluegrass album.

Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, and Infamous Stringdusters are some of my favorite live acts

Mac Wiseman has a greatest hits album. I'd add that to my list. I'd also pick something up from Doyle Lawson and J.D. Crowe.

Greensky Bluegrass
They had a great show at the Varsity as well. Crowd was pretty empty but I'm pretty sure the show was on like a Monday or something

quote:Buddy of mine that lives out in Hawaii saw them play 4 nights out there a few days ago. He said one of the nights there was a power outage at Charley's so they played an acoustic set on a flatbed truck outside.
Leftover Salmon
Played Midnight Moonlight at Midnight
Then went back inside once the power came back and played with Lukas Nelson

Leftover Salmon is definitely a must see...Every show I've been to, I've enjoyed

Ignoring the more classic artists already mentioned:
I think the Punch Brothers are at worst in the competition for the most talented bluegrass group ever. Subtract some points for falling on the new grass side. Add some for four part harmonies. Add a ton for Chris Thile being one of the most gifted, talented, and creative musicians of our (/my) generation.
Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch make good sounds too. They're more of what 'hard bop' is to 'bebop' (being traditional bluegrass in this instance) to me, though. More listenable. Less focus on pure mechanical talent for the sake of pure mechanical talent.
Old Crow Medicine Show is a little on the folk/bluegrass line. I tend to like their sound a lot too. Particularly the 'Carry Me Back to Virginia' album.
For specific songs, limited to very popular stuff to get a good idea of their sound:
PB- The Beekeeper, Brakeman's Blues (non original)
GW&DR: Miss Ohio, By the Mark
OCMS: Wagon wheel, Ain't it Enough, Back to New Orleans, I Hear Them All

I swear you spend more time posting links to your two threads than you do discussing music on this board

He's posted in-depth analysis/opinions/recommendations in those two threads. Why re-hash what he's already written when it's a link away?

It's not a knock on Kafka, just funny.
