Damn.. 48k residents and thousands of incidents in just a week? So basically if you live there in one year there is a very good chance you will have some shite happen to you.

Problem with what Holmes is saying is that no one knows when or where the commertity meetings are....and he tends not to show up unless mayor Mayo is there

Cory's FB Page
I accidentally made a thread about this as well. Absurd and unfortunately, not surprising.

I can't wait to hear the police union weigh in on this. We should be hearing from them any moment now...

Monroe PD's response to the this will be like their response to everything else, nonexistent

They will blame it on Cory and do nothing like every official up here....until they get rid of Mayo this town will continue it's downward spiral.....he's suing the city counsel now

Could be worse. Could be the police station in NC that killed a couple's son because an officer felt they didnt have time for it and shot their kid while the 90 pound kid was being tased.

If you live in the city limits of Monroe, this is probably true.

Police chief butt dials the news star and is overheard saying that he thinks the chef is making up some of the stuff that was taken, and he should've locked his door

It’s unclear who Monroe Police Chief Quentin Holmes was talking to Monday when he suggested Restaurant Cotton chef Cory Bahr might be padding his losses from a December burglary and should have locked his vehicle to prevent the crime.

What Holmes did not know is that he had inadvertently called The News-Star on his cellphone during that conversation.

I posted to his wall a few days ago.
I had a VERY similar experience with the MPD.
My iPad was stolen, and I called them within an hour of it happening. I was told by the first officer that arrived that find my iPad was not reliable enough for him to knock on the door.
The next morning, I went to the location on the app, only to discover it was in the middle of the ghetto.
I went home, called the MPD again, and then told them I saw te house it was at, and because of the positioning, it could only be at one particular house.
The cop assured me he was on to it. I sat there the rest of the day watching my iPad bounce around the ghetto, and each time I called, I was told an officer would be on the scene shortly. Eventually, it died and it was lost forever.
I now hate MPD.

How about interstate maintenance, FDIC insurance, the FAA, or the USDA?
quote:
One thing the landmark 1956 Act did not do was provide for maintenance of the Interstate highways. This is not surprising. Since the Federal-aid highway program began in 1916 under President Woodrow Wilson, the States had been responsible for maintenance
The FDIC only makes banks lazy about securing funds
And Reagan didnt fire 11,000 FAA controllers for going on strike, did he?
And of course there are never nationwide food recalls, or outbreaks of food poisoning under the USDA watch? Lets not even talk about the grants and loans shenanigans

I remember your thread also.

Chief Holmes did make one solid point, have all these desk jockeys come out to the community meetings.

That sucks... I'd be pissed as well.
So lawyers, are there any legal repercussions for the police chief for suggesting this guy is embellishing if it's found that he is not? I hope the citizens of Monroe clean house.

quote:Again, why is this necessary? You get elected. Do your damn job. The citizens shouldn't have to remind you to do you job at community meetings.
So many people love to bitch (like we do) from behind their computer or phone screen. Go out to the community meetings and express your opinion face to face with the city leaders.

The problems in Monroe are due to the fact that we have a City Council that has taken the place of the school board as the joke of the city. The Mayor is a joke and the city has begun to implode. The problems can't be solved due to the fact that the majority of the voters in Monroe won't vote for a well qualified Northside Monroe candidate, which is the only place where you could find qualified leaders.
