quote:I sure hope this isn't true. He's an EE for a reason. Magee is a change of pace back and Hillard is nice in short yardage situation. But, he's not a game changer.
Magee Hilliard fournette will be the pecking order. If he proves to be that much better than the Srs then he'll move up. But it think he'll finish 3rd in carries unless an injury occurs or Hilliard comes in out of shape
Considering the fact that we are losing so much on offense. This team needs a game changer. Handcuffing LF would be a pity.

I don't think he will be the starter right off the bat by any means. I just want to know if any one thinks we are going to eventually return to a feature back setup ,if LF proves himself, and stay that way?

You are going to be so disappointed the first half of the season.

Him and Magee will be a great backfield. I think Magee gets more carries early in the year to let LF get adjusted to the game and stuff and keep him fresh. Magee is really good too

Hhes going to play a lot early and often

of course, but it's going to happen at least at the beginning. thats just how it is with this team.
patrick peterson didn't start till after the UF game in 08. took a couple games this year for them to insert white over j. collins. you can go all the way back to 06 and look at the first few games where we were trying to pound 2 out of shape backs coming off acl tears with talented freshmen waiting in the wings.

Magee averaged 7.3 YPC last year. I don't think he has to be a change of pace guy.
I see 50%magee
25%each to the other guys roughly.
We're going to need all 3. Our passing game will be shite

he's not an EE, and why would you think he'd only be here 2 years?

I'm also a bit worried about OLine with Turner departing [and Collins probably as well]

Miles cleared the stable for fournette. He will play week 1 and a good bit

LF will play early and often.

My bad, I miss read 247 then. [I thought Paris,Harris & him were our only EEs this year]

Did he get rid of Magee and Hilliard?

LOL no. He'll be worked in gradually. The Miles way. Randle was the #1 WR and #2 player nationally and he had 11 receptions for 173 yards his freshman year. Freshman don't often earn early playing time under miles. Don't expect that to change. Jeremy Hill was by far our best back last year and it took forever for him to earn the starting gig...even then he still split carries with Spencer 2 ypc Ware

You don't know what kind of back LF is do you? Miles does. Early and often.

Yeah, Fournette is a whole different animal, I think. We'll see though.

So we're going to handcuff the #1 overall player?
and people wonder why LSU has the rep it has now among players.
I'm here wondering how you're making an assumption on how much LF will play based on a response on a message board.

most every coaches way. I think Fournette has probably the best shot at breaking that mold though, he seems more focused and prepared to understand the work required to earn playing time right off the bat.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, IMO he gets whats left after Magee and Hilliard and works his way up to starter by mid-season.
ETA: unless he fumbles once. Then he'll be benched.
