This. And, as mentioned, for all practical purposes Manning had the record beat by a hundred yards if he would have stayed in the game. No point in overturning the 'letter' of the record since there' no debate that Manning holds it in 'spirit.'

Someone should review every one of Brees' passes for the record breaking year. (Make certain no screens or swing passes were laterals).

Had it been the other way around Brees would be 7 yards short of the record. frick the NFL and their corrupt ways. Let Manning have the record. He will be an after thought when he bows out of the playoffs again.

if Brees was black the NFL would have done the right thing and changed the record because of media pressure.

but since he's not, they chose to protect their good ole boy and just turn a blind eye.

What pisses me off about this is how long, or should I say quickly, it took them to determine this. They usually don't make stat corrections until the following Thursday. However they did this one in less than 24 hours. They knew going into it they weren't going to change it.

They basically said it was a lateral pass, but they aren't going to change it.

Could he have beaten the record if he played a series in the second half? Sure, but he also could have drop back to pass and got hit and blew out his ACL. You shouldn't get the record for something you didn't do, it doesn't matter if you could have easily done it. In the end you didn't do it.

This makes no sense. He broke the record. They reviewed or and the record stands.

Sorry to hear Elias look the other way.

I have not been following this, but did they count the yardage in the "reviewed" 50th td pass in the game before, that was mistakenly called a catch?

I guess I don't understand...if it was a lateral how can they say it wasn't?
