LSU will once again lead the nation in mediocre players leaving school early for the chance to make a NFL practice squad.

The source would not disclose the reason for Ferguson's absence but said he was not suspended or missing for academic reasons.

People fail to realize how easy these student athletes, especially football players, have it academically. Most of them take bullshite, do-nothing courses and have unreal facilities, tudors doing most of their work for them and access to previous exams. It's basically a matter of getting off your arse and showing up to class. He knew he wasn't coming back to school next year and didn't care about the bowl game. It's a dumb, shortsighted decision but what can you expect from a 20 year old?

Sucks the most for his teammates. But that's what you can expect from a top tier football program. These kids have the nfl on their mind the second they sign their name on NSD. Hell I bet the coaches use that as a selling point to get them on campus. Can't get too upset when they wanna make the jump but the laziness is very frustrating.

I'm assuming you've done the research and it's zero for all of the above?

I know it wasn't an academic suspension, but off the top of my head Andre Smith was suspended for the Sugar Bowl a few years ago.

I'm sure I can find several more but I really don't have that kinda time in my hands. But I'm pretty certain we aren't the only school to experience this.

Ego is ineligible because he made his mind up to turn pro in spite of having a mediocre season. Just like several of LSU's underclassmen last year. This is a LSU problem, not a nationwide problem. Other teams lose underclassmen who had great seasons.

That says a lot about his work ethic and ultimately his ability to succeed in the pros ...

When that's the case, you really can't blame any of the guys that leave early because of those circumstances.

And yet their very first purchase is an extravigent car and jewelry.

So sad...
