re: Are we all in agreement about the Bowl Game? We should win easily?

Right and there is the problem with this Jekyll and Hyde season.
Which team will show up? The one that routed A&M and Auburn or the one that didn't care against OM and Arky...
No offense to Iowa but I just dont see them staying with us if we play a good game. Our athletes are on another level compared to them. They have not seen a better RB than Hill or better WRs all season than Landry or Beckham. In this game they will see all 3 on the field at the same time.

We got a new QB and a soft defense. I'd be surprised if its 17 pts either way

Iowa this year is a shade better than Ole Miss, a bit worse than A&M.
I can see this going anywhere between a wide-margin win and a close loss. Really interested to see how Jennings mentally handles bouncing back from adversity. He will inevitably make some mistakes, but if he bounces back well, I'll really be encouraged for next year.

Um, they're on the road, too.
If you read my post very carefully I did not mention Iowa. I simply stated that LSU did not play well on the road.
Whether Iowa plays well on the road is a different matter. LSU road play as it relates to Iowa road play could be quit an interesting topic in its self.

Iowa is 4-1 on the road this year, not world beaters, but ISU, Minn, OSU, Purdue, Nebraska.

What am I missing here?
1 - Iowa is scrappy and is playing the underdog role. They play that role well.
2 - Noon CST kickoff. Expect LSU to start very sluggishly and maybe even be losing at the half. LSU doesn't play well when they aren't in their normal game time. 11am and noon kickoffs are rough for us and always have.
3 - Jennings has had one meaningful drive. He's an X-factor. He has a ton of potential but it's unproven and we don't know how he will perform as a starter. Some players are great coming off the bench, but not very good starters. We don't know how Jennings will perform.
4 - Iowa likes to run the ball and our D-line isn't stellar this year. Neither is our LBs. If Iowa is able to move the chains then LSU's great offense won't be able to do anything standing on the sideline.
5 - LSU isn't as good as we all think they are and Iowa isn't as bad as we think they are. We are all bias on this board. We love LSU and think that they can beat anyone and should smoke 99% of all teams in CFB. Reality is, we are a 3-loss team that struggles more when we are outside of Tiger Stadium.
This will be a tough game for LSU. I would put Iowa on the same level as Ole Miss. All 4 of their losses are to ranked teams and most were good games. Expect a battle. LSU should win but will lose if they don't come to play well.

For LSU 2-3
TCU win, UGA loss, MSU win, OM loss, Bama loss.
Lost to two good teams (UGA at that point in time). Lost to one med conference team.
Wins over TCU 4-8 and MSU 6-6.
Probably would have beaten UGA and OM if we played them at home.

No doubt we have better athletes at the skill positions, but games are won and lost in the trenches. I think it comes down to how our d-line plays.

quote:Yep, that's the key I see. It doesn't seem to matter how much better we are than the opposition. The one thing that kills me about Les Miles teams is how many times we seem to be playing not to lose rather than to win and let inferior teams hang around too long. Sometimes they get lucky at the end or we screw up and there you go!
Hopefully we don't play down to there talent like we always seem to do

1. Theyre a run between the tackles team and our DL and LBs are sub par.
2. We have a true freshman QB who has basically played one drive.
3. Miles piss poor job of bowl prep and motivation 3 out of 4 years.
4. You're a Rantard.

quote:this plus lack of motivation to wind bowls has bee evident in last few bowl games. Ark and Ole Miss games were hard to swallow. Obviously we have more talent but that didn't transfer to the play on the field. Opponents may be more motivated and want the win more than the tigers, they have more to gain in respect if the win again against SEC team.
We should have easily beat Arkansas and Ole Miss

Les's same old shite. Play down to every team except against good teams like Bama or Ga. With no defense & a new QB we will probably lose 4 out of 5 bowl games. I hope I am wrong but I have been watching LSU foot ball for too many years!

You are a fricking idiot! We had to pull off a 99 yard drive to beat an SEC winless Ark. team and lost to Ole Miss. Our only signature win against Auburn early in the season was tainted b/c of weather conditions and Auburn's rightful claim that they got better and better. Our QB is starting his 1st ever game, Our best players have NFL silver dollars circling their heads, etc....
Iowa will run the ball and eat up the clock. Our QB will have a frustrating 1st half (I'm predicting - NOT hoping for that though). I just hope the game is close and competitive. I don't see a blowout but it would be nice. Geaux Tigers!

That's not true against Clemson. LSU was motivated played hard but the offense was putrid as usual. Clemson was simply better.

I doubt they lose, although it is very possible. Iowa doesn't have much outside of their running game and their secondary may be worse than LSU's. Granted we have a true freshman QB, but look for Jarvis and OBJ to play a big role in this game. Having them gives Jennings two security blankets. The kid is tough, I think a lot of people under play the significance of that 99 yard drive against Arky. Just the kids demeanor facing that challenge should be encouraging to every LSU fan, he seemed like it was just business as usual.
Iowa is going to pound the ball, look for LSU to just lock up man to man (ie A&M game) and sell out the rest to stop the run. They'll try to force Iowa to beat them through the air. I think we'll see a lot of Rashard Robinson locking up with whom ever is Iowa's go to receiver. If the back end holds up on D, we'll be able to stop the run and that puts Iowa in a tough situation. If LSU jumps out to a pretty good early lead and forces Iowa to try and play catch up, then you'll see your 17pt win simply because Iowa isn't built to come from behind. I doubt that happens, it's just the only scenario it may happen.

Agree, if we lock down with our corners and put 8 in the box to stop there power game up the middle we can win.
We need for Welter and Barrow to play tough along with AJ.
Early in the game if our players are flying to the ball and we keep this up the whole game we can win
