Davis for sure, but the last half of this season, Landry came close.

Wendell Davis caught anything thrown near him, every time..

Caught everything Tommy Hodson threw his way. Everything.

Wendell Davis, then Jarvis Landry. I'd also submit Abram Booty. He had great hands.

Well, this has been a good discussion.

I saw both Wendell Davis and Josh Reed play, and of course, Landry, this season. I would give a very slight edge to Davis, followed closely by Landry, then Reed.

But this is tough to call, since they played during different periods, and there were a few years between each of them.

I would toss in Eric Martin as the 4th. Andy Hamilton was the only real candidate from the classic era (and his cousin/teammate was our first pure passer since Y.A. Tittle)

Many of the modern guys were great, Bowe, Doucet and Beckham, particularly. But for really reliable hands - Martin, Davis, Reed and Landry are my top 4.

I strongly suggest that you rewatch the 2001 Alabama game. Everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going , but yet Josh got himself open all day long. Saban once said that Josh "stuck his foot in the ground" better than any receiver he previously saw. Essentially, the guy did not lose any speed when making a cut on a route , creating seperation. Watch that game and many of his other big games. The guy was constantly wide open. Note that his leg and arm strength also helped him get open at LoS. It was impossible to jam him in college.

Wendell (and Reed) were super consistent. Neither one made the circus catches that Landry and Martin made. You will search in vain for either of those guys making a catch to rival either of Landry's Arky catches. For Martin, on the other hand, you will not have to search long. I give you his catch vs. Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. One-handed, with three Nebraska defenders in contact. One is hitting him almost full on from the safety position. As great as Josh Reed and Wendall Davis were - and you could argue that they were better college receivers - they didn't have quite the hands of Martin or Landry.
