f they started making these again and build them well. They would have insane sales
Just like if GM started making the early 90's square dash trucks again, and if ford started making the old bronco.
I don't get why it's that difficult. They KNOW retro sells. The mustang went with a half-retro look and sold bazillions. People went crazy over them.
I would have to think an old-style truck would be dirt cheap to manufacture with modern tech. A brand new power wagon with a new fuel injected V8 would be a bad arse rig.

The hurdles the manufacturer's have to clear in order to sell a new vehicle are almost endless. Emission testing, fuel mileage, CO2 levels per mile, active and passive safety measures including front and side air bags, rollover protection, collision avoidance, back up camera's, tire pressure monitoring, ABS brakes, vehicle stabilization systems, and on and on. These are some of the things mandated by the Federal Government because big brother is smarter than you. It is literally against the law to build a simple truck or SUV.

This shite is required now?

Yeah on Tire Pressure monitoring and SUVs and trucks. Vehicles Stabilization on SUVs like that new Bronco if ever built. Collision avoidance and back up camera's are coming as required on everything. That's why new vehicles are so expensive to buy and repair. An average new vehicle has about 20-30 computers, some large some small that control everything and are all inner connected.

Off topic-
I've got a Hyundai in the shop right now that I've got to replace a sensor for the adaptive cruise control. It turned the repair from 12k to 18k. Hyundai placed it right behind the bumper cover and attached to the reinforcement (metal bumper behind bumper cover). A 5k part that will get smashed in any front end collision.
Ford had the same issue with what I'm guessing is some sort turbo for the ecoboost. It's right behind the bumper on the driver's side.
/end hijack

Blah blah blah, in all my years of collision repair (over 20,000 vehicles repaired) I've replaced an engine or totaled a vehicle due to engine damage less than 10 times so your point is fricking stupid. I'm talking about placing key or expensive components in places likely to get damaged in something as light as a tire blowout or pulling too close to a curb.
Sorry to the oP for totally derailing the thread.

I have a buddy who has had a 1993 Bronco that he goofs off in on the weekends. I told him that if he ever sells it, he better ask me first.
