Briles won't work at UT... he has gotten away with recruiting thugs and players of questionable character at Baylor, at UT those guys would be under the microscope more. The reason Briles and Scott Drew has succeeded at Baylor while other coaches failed is because Baylor finally decided to just stop caring about the quality of character of athletes they recruit and only care about winning.

Baylor Admin and Briles look the other way when it comes to the morals and ethics of their athletes, especially in basketball/football, I imagine Texas would be a bit more strict when it comes to that.

Briles has been operating with a handicap simply to compete at Baylor. At Texas, he could afford to be a bit more discerning with his recruits.

They need to see how Strong does without Bridgewater. He might not be so desirable.

No guns? Definitely not a good fit at Texas.

At Texas, they'd have a lawyer on retainer for $1.

I'm surprised Briles isn't the shoe in for that job.

As a Texas fan I would really like the Franklin hire. Knows how to win at an academic university, coaches kids up, good recruiter has high energy which has been missing.

But most importantly, most of the old man Texas blue hair fan base might not even realize he's black so they would accept him.

Briles would be a good choice but i believe the recruiting of questionable players and thuggery at Baylor takes him off of most of Texas people boards.

At Texas, he wouldn't have to rely on the questionable takes. With his high school connections, he'd be a slam dunk hire if I was a UT fan.

I can agree with this, he would not have as many questionable guys but Briles has developed a reputation in the state. If you don't know what I mean look at Gary Pattersons comments about Briles coached teams a few weeks back.

If I was going to hire Briles at Texas, 90% of the questions I would ask him would be what his plans were on defense. He seems to forget you have to play defense also to win championships.

Briles would have to settle for men of "character" like Mack Brown did

Im curious to see what Petrino could do at a major school...if you can make Ark a top 5 team your pretty damn good at your job...i know he wont get it, but id like to see him get a UCLA type job...I wouldnt want to see him at Florida thats for sure.
