I'm not sure which is more difficult to believe. Les would go to Texas or Texas would want Les.
Les is in the perfect spot for Les.

I guess anything is possible but I'd be surprised if Texas really wants him because of his quirky personality and the amount of grief that he's taken over the years from teams he has beaten or left for better job opportunities.

I would take Les in a minute if that were the case as I have continued to maintain throughout my posting on this site. Les may shite the bed occasionally but which Coach doesnt. Bear won three national titles and then had four 6 and 8 win seasons in the late 60's. His 72 team was absolutely schooled by Nebraska 38-6. If the Internet had existed then, with all of its extreme opinions, maybe Bama doesnt have the 73, 78 and 79 titles.

Also, Smacker went to a boarding school in Jacksonville, FL so it's not like the Miles family hasn't dealt with having a kid in high school several hundred miles away already.
The more I think about it, I think Miles would seriously consider an offer from Texas.
He coached Okie State and knows SE Texas plenty well already.
He might wait to see if the Meechicken job opens up again if Hoke flames out but Texas would be awfully tempting. Surely Miles knows how unloved he is by much of the LSU fanbase.

That's why he's smarter than you. He's solid gold on TV and anyone with a functioning brain is aware of this.
The damn sheep in Louisiana just want a guy who will talk like the coach is supposed to talk. They prefer to hear the canned bullshite answers and can't appreciate that Les is original.

The very same ones who hate the way Les talks can't understand why so many of us (including fans of teams he beats regularly) like him and want him to stay in the SEC.

My source close to UT has confirmed the op's post on Miles. He said that it was for 8.5m per year but the 1% in the LHN wasn't on the table (as miles isn't as good as Saban) but still a good deal and that it was pretty much a done deal.

Well, the source I encountered laying next to the dumpster in an alley behind an Austin 7-11 told me (with brief intervals so he could be sick) that Malzahn was a done deal. 600 million a year, his own private palace-slash-deepwater-oil-rig in the Gulf, a helicopter and pilot to ferry him back and forth to Austin and a partridge in a pear tree, since the deal was finalized so close to Christmas.
I lean toward believing his info, because he gave me the details on a CD-ROM (which I later discovered was actually a rusty coffee can lid.)
