For example, clearly Nick Saban to Bama was the worst nightmare hire for LSU fans.

Who scares y'all most as next coach at Texas?

Art Briles? Seems like he would do the most damage recruiting wise. If Texas can get him, I don't see anyone better out there. What he's done at Baylor is off the charts.

You can't say Saban so choose another name please. For purposes of this thread, let's assume Saban was never born.

Now that Saban was never born, unless they hire Sumlin I'm not real worried.

Now that JFF is gone, ATM is completely irrelevant in the SEC, much less in the state of Texas. They couldn't finish better than their in their division (not conference) with the best player they've ever had. They can't defend the SEC opposition and would've been a 3 win team this season without JFF.

Now that Texas is about to hit a home run with their head coach hire, they are scared shitless. Sumlin will be taking the first bus out of Cult Station before a cat can lick its arse and they will all point to their class rings and rub weenies with each other while the national football scene passes them by.

Keep wishing. Your underlying fear is showing. To the OP Briles isn't all that scary. Tbh as long as their program is in the state of disarry it's in no one really is scary. Until the good ole boy network that really runs shite over there is ousted it will be really hard for any coach to do any real damage to us.

There's no way in hell that Art Briles is going to Texas. He just isn't the type of guy to accept an offer there, and he isn't the type of guy that Texas boosters want. Texas wants a larger than life figure, not some guy at little bitty Baylor.

With that said though, they couldn't hire a better coach.

You gotta put some bait on the hook before you throw it out there, son.

The hire that would scare me would have been Harbaugh. He's a proven college coach and would make Texas a perennial contender for the national championship IMO.

I agree but like I said the good ole boys want to make a splash to get our name out of everyones mouths. It is killing them that they are not the focus of football talk in Texas. Just keep watching if Baylor continues to rise they will start to have mysterious problems and phantom penalties will begin to show up. That is the way of things here. I am so glad we got away from that bs.

No one really. Even Saban to Texass wasn't scary.

Texas already gets top 5 recruiting classes virtually every year. Not like they are going to suddenly grab all available talent. Still plenty of talent in Texas, LA, etc.. for us to have top 5 recruiting classes.

Ags need to worry about improving D and handling our business in the SEC. Doesn't really matter who is doing what at Texass since we aren't in the Big 12 anymore and don't play each other.

If Ags compete well in the SEC then Texas doesn't matter. Also, if Ags don't compete well in the SEC it still doesn't matter what happens at Texass. We have to take care of our own house and keep the stadium full.

Ok Grandad..... I will bite.

Tell me how many games A&M wins this season without Manziel? They lost four (4) conference games with him.

Take him away and they won't win two conference games next season. I don't know about you, but I call that completely irrelevant. A&M is on a decline and the proof is in the pudding.

Channeling my inner Brer Rabbit, I would be terrified if they hired Dennis Franchione.

I have zero hate. I am simply a realist. I think the game is much better with JFF in the backfield. Take that away, and it A&M simply isn't the same. The same goes for Brees, Brady, Manning, etc for their teams.

FSU isn't undefeated this season if Winston isn't there. It is what it is. I'm just calling it how I see it, not trolling or anything else.

You can't deny Sumlin should be looking elsewhere right now. His stock is higher than it ever will be. He won't compete in the SEC West in the near future without Manziel. I like the shite out of him. It's all a business decision at the end of the day, which is why I'm convinced Saban is wearing Burnt Orange soon. Loyalty left the building years ago in today's sports market.

you're selling A&M's potential short

they have some improvement to do on defense and will have to replace JFF but they are a program with enormous potential. With no Saban and no Harbaugh in Austin they might eventually make a case to be the #1 program in Texas.

I have no doubts they are the #1 program in Texas today. Baylor is 2, Texas and Texas Tech battle for 3.

Baylor can only do so much. The new stadium is going to be unreal, but that won't compete with A&M in the SEC and Texas as the flagship school in the state. A&M loses its top ranking as they slip and not be considered a contender in the SEC, however. I agree they have unlimited potential. A home run hire in Austin next week puts a major half to that momentum. Like I said earlier, the keys to the state are in UT's hands right now. They can drop them and treat this situation like the colossal clusterfrick the last week was, or they can hit a grand slam and reap the benefits. Time will tell how they react.

no hire at Texas is scary as log as they are trapped in the Big 12.

Disagree.

An undefeated Big 12 team is in the four team playoff next year. A one loss SEC team may be in, may not be. A&M now plays in the most competitive division and conference in the country as evidenced by the last seven national championship appearances.

If the next coach at Texas runs off consecutive seasons of 1 or zero losses and A&M continues to lose 3 to 4 conference games, they have a lot to be scared of with the new playoff format.
