2nd Annual PC Gamers Benchmark/E-Peen Competition *POST YOUR SCORES!*
Posted on 12/15/13 at 3:13 pm
Posted on 12/15/13 at 3:13 pm
It's that time of year again, the second annual PC E-Peen competition! In this thread you can show off your new/modified builds and show off how massive your E-Peen is. I know many of you have the same builds as last time, but go ahead and join for fun. We will have prizes again this year!
Please help contribute to the prize list! I will be donating a steam game set, but if you have other parts, or something of the sort you don't use, DONATE IT!
Rules
1. Download 3DMark 11, CPU-Z, and GPU-Z
2. Run 3DMark 11 on the basic settings in Centered (not stretched, centered should be default)
3. Take a screenshot of your results with GPU-Z and CPU-Z open next to it and your TigerDroppings name somewhere in the screenshot. Like this:
4. Post your Cpu overclocks, Motherboard, video cards and overclocks. Looks a little something like this:
5. Link to your 3DMark 11 score. Make it look like this: 3DMark 11: P9484
6. *OPTIONAL* Post up your full build so people can see it (don't be afraid to include pics)!
Prizes
1. Bluebarracuda - Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist
2. LSU Coyote - Choice of one of the following sets: Parts for a full custom loop, block, RADs, pump.. everything. Some new and some used OR Brand new in box fans, RAM and MOBO. A used CPU, HDD and PSU and Case. Basically a spare rig.
How Prize Winners Will Be Decided
This might be confusing and hard to understand but hang with me. Say you get a score on 3DMark 11 of P9750, you will divide that by 250 and you will receive that many ballots for the drawing. Basically, for every 250 points in 3DMark 11, you will get 1 ballot in the drawing. I still haven't decided the most fair way to do the drawing yet, so if anyone has any ideas, or better ideas in general about the way the prizes should be decided, discuss in this thread!
EDIT- If you're banned from TD, send me an invite on steam and I can work you into the competition. My name is Bluebarracuda. Tell me your TD name and such when you add me so I know who you are

That's a bench from when I first got the cards. I moved my 7970 to the 2nd PCI slot so I could control the clocks

Since we have more PC gamers and more experienced PC posters now, I purpose we do more than 1 benchmark and multiple categories. Just off the cuff but maybe lets do as follows.
1. 3DMark11 Performance Run (Free)
1a - Overall Score
1b - Graphics Score
1c - Physics Score
2. Unigine Valley Benchmark
1a - Overall Score
1b - Highest Average FPS
1c - Highest FPS
This way it gives everyone a chance to take any catergory! Makes it a lot more fun IMO. We could also through in some "system performance" benchmarks.
Just a thought for now.

But that's a lot more work for me though

Since benchmarks are relatively meaningless other than for e-peen purposes (hardware performance in a perfect world), doing two for one contest would probably be redundant.

Well, not really.
Look at benchmarks competition results and the different areas of each benchmark are all over the place for different setups. All depends how you are running your hardware. High core clocks but low ram clocks vs lower codre and high ram clocks, those results could be seen in different scores on different areas.
We should talk about it a little more and not everyone to run everyone but this was a learning experience for a lot of ppl on this board last year and should be a great one this year as well. It gives ppl the chance to explore other areas of their PC's performance besides CPU/GPU clocks.
Just had those ideas to makes the "bench off" a little more fun.
